Re: Some Penfed help, please?

Ugh! You're really tempting me now! Grrr. Lately I've been apping for CLIs with NFCU every 3 months after I see they've pulled their AR. If it says it's gonna be an HP (no instant counter) I send them a SM and cancel the request and then there's no HP. Been working out great! I learned that trick on here as well from that Nfcu thread. Waiting til after 6/1 to attempt my next CLI from them.

I know they def pay off. Always funny to see people's reactions when you throw out one of these names they've never heard of like at car dealerships and stuff lol. I'll have to research nasa and see if it makes sense for me to app with them now or if I have to wait since I have so many fresh inqs on my credit right now

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

Ha Ha..Yup I'm that devil on your shoulder. lol

I know what you mean. The car salesman told me the finance guy was aggrevated with me bringing in my own financing. Basically only the salesman and dealership made anything off my auto purchase. He said the finance guy had to do my loan for free. I told him that the finance mgr. would be alright. I'm sure there was someone coming in uneducated about purchasing cars that he could rip their heads off that day or in the future..

When it comes to the best time to pull the trigger.

It all depends on if those accounts have reported yet? And if they pull EX? If your other creditors pulled from other CB's and haven't reported. You're all clear before those accounts hit all CB's.

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

Called back Penfed, turns out all they wanted was to verify I was the one who submitted the app. They said it's going back to a loan officer and I'll prob hear something by EOD. Let's see if I have more luck from them this time around!

I also submitted the app for NASA membership Smiley Tongue cuz I can't help myself. They said they have to refer my app to a member services specialist for review...is that bad? Do I app for the CC right after they approve that?

Re: Some Penfed help, please?

Yes you app for CC and PLOC right after membership is approved. Did you submit the membership request online? They will need a copy of your DL and utility bill. You can scan and send that thru the online application site. Sometimes it takes a few days for them to approve membership. And sometimes it's instant. Mine took almost the entire week. It's normal for your membership to go into review.

DCU was like 1.5% lower for me than penfed, plus they'd do 72 months when penfed only wanted 60. It's funny cuz they still wouldn't give me a CC despite that they'd give me an auto loan lol but whatever. It's cool cuz now they also decrease my APR on the auto loan by 0.25% every 3 months I make payments on time, so I can pay my loan down faster. Works for me! I still want to refi it since my credit has gotten way better since I got the car but I don't really want another HP for it

Not always. They hard pulled me. Twice.

Here is a workaround all the red tape. Call PENFED and tell the csr that you have a pending CLI for your card and politely request a Supervisor / Loan officer to expedite your approval. You will be transferred to a supervisor WITH THE POWER to immediately grant your CLI. Instantaneous - provided you qualify and get one who is decent. I've done this twice now -- PENFED Supervisors double as LOs. I would call instead of waiting -- it seems to yield much better results when you can chat up a human being. The supervisor I got looked at my credit file, made VERY friendly chat, and immediately said "I'm comfortable raising you to $15,000" from 5k!!!! I only wanted $8-10k!!!

Call now and go WOOOOOOOOO after :-).

UGH!! I just went to go respond to this prior to calling to do what you said, logged in online, and it said my app was DECLINED due to the infamous "pyramiding debt" response! Smiley Frustrated Is it still worth calling to speak to a supervisor to try and get that overturned? I still don't understand what on earth pyramiding debt even means, but I barely have any CC debt anymore so I don't know what the problem is...

Yikes. In what order did you app for your stuff? If there's a chance they're going to HP me I won't even go through with completing the membership app, let alone a CC.
