I was reading through this thread and wonder what you guys think of this theory: they're not going to convert someone to a MasterCard and pay the additional transaction fees unless they're certain the customer will use that card outside of Target.
As an example, I have the store REDcard. I average about $2K a year on it every year going back to 2012 because I live across the street from a SuperTARGET and buy some groceries there.
I think it would be easy to discern from my credit reports that I likely use nothing but rewards cards -- long history, high limits, nothing opened since 2012, no other store cards, no inquiries, no lates, and full payments each month. So why should they pay MasterCard fees for a card I very likely would never use except at Target? I think they'd be morons to upgrade me to the MasterCard.
Agreed, they are somewhat weird generally. I originally got a store REDcard when my wife signed up. She used her income only and got $3K. She had an active mortgage on her credit report, and if I recall, some lates that were several years old. We got divorced, and I got my own. My reports showed a paid mortgage, a much more extensive and better credit history, and I had an income 2.5x hers. I got $900 and it stayed there until last year when they bumped it to $1300. Go figure.

When you use a Target MasterCard in Target, the transaction is processed like a regular REDcard transaction, not through MasterCard, so MasterCard doesn't get a cut.

Hi @murat533 , You really can't force a CLI .. just have to keep using it and hope TD bank gives an Auto-CLI?.
I have not seen a whole lot of Target CLI's during Covid-19.
Happy Holidays!
They use to give me every 4 months $300 CLI but not for a year.I don't know why.
Happy Holidays!
TD Bank shut down all auto CLI when Covid hit. That is why. They just started loosening the belt about a month ago. Many of us just saw some $500 bumps but many of us were getting used to $2000-$3000 bumps. You'll just need to be patient...

I think TD Bank has been pretty tight with CLI in 2020 because of C*VID. I got my card around February and haven't seen a CLI either. I also update my income monthly and PiF monthly. My score and income have increased significantly too. I wouldn't read too much into it.
Just wanted to add auto cli are neither gaurenteed nor a given. I see this with some on Discover where they are getting auto luv like clockwork then when it doesnt happen the Sky is falling
. Most people do not receive auto cli let alone back to back or months on end. If you receive one be grateful for like Blisspay, here today , gone tomorrow
.
Hi,
I called a couple months ago and was told they do automatic increases. I updated my income two months ago and just received a $500 increase today. I can't remember the last time I got an increase from them.
Do you have balance on the card or no?
