Re: The BarclayCard CLI Soft Pull thread

Hello, I am hearing about these rare instances in which Barclay gives certain people a soft pull CLI.

I am creating this thread for all of those who have obtained a soft pull CLI with Barclay seeking the following information:

How long have you had an open account with Barclay?

What date did you get a soft pull CLI?

Was this your first CLI with Barclay or not?

(If you want to include this: How much % was the increase?)

The purpose of this thread is to gather when precisely Barclay gives out the soft pull CLI's that tey do and to determine whether it's based on your time with them or if they just run a soft pull on all their members at a certain time of year. Also, I want to know how frequently this might be happening. We know it exists now, lets get some analytics.

Thank you everyone

Additionally learned information:

-A member here (Anomalous) was advised by the rep at Barclay that his increase was based off of his income at the time

-High income does not guarantee a proportionate auto-CLI however may be a factor with soft-pull CLI's

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stats on Soft Pull CLI in this thread so far:

Soft CLI range: 6%-43%

CLI Length with card: 1mo.-6mos.

Hopefully this helps.  And, the only reason why we even initiated the hunt for the soft pull CLI is because we read this thread!

So today, March 13th, after having read this thread, we called the 24/7 UW number listed for Barclay's in the stickies.

Spoke with an UW who first wanted to know the reason for our call.  We told him we wanted a "lower apr" on our Barclays Rewards card that had been opened since November 2014 at a 24.99% apr (ugh) and a meager CL ($500).

He said he couldn't help us and said he'd transfer us to customer service who immediately took the call.  She understood our concern, and we further elucidated that we wanted a lower apr to put on our card so that we could "buy a plane ticket" and we were wondering if there was a "lower apr" available or "some type of 'other' offer."  She said she saw several offers and said she'd need to transfer us to the relationship manager (cool title!)  So she transfered us and we were on hold for about 15 minutes but we weren't going to give up.

The girl from the relationship department then answers the phone and apologizes for the delay and immediately knows what we want without explanation:  a lower apr (but truly, we want more!) So she says:  "I understand you want a lower apr" to which we tell her we want to put a plane ticket on our card and even though we pay our bills in full (and I tell her to look and see that we do) that we'd like a lower apr "just in case" and we tell her because the credit limit is so small that we will have to put some on Barclays and some on AmEx.

She said:  "well I see several offers on your account."  She tells us she can increase our line of credit and EXPLICITLY tells us that there is NO HARD PULL required.  In fact, she mentions this twice.  Once right away and once before she actually does a soft pull.  She then says she can lower our APR to 0% until December 2015 but that it will revert back to the 24.99% at the end of the promo.  We agree.  She processes the request:

$500 initial CL to $700 (ugh, it's not much, but at least this worked!) and

24.99% APR on purchases to 0% until December 2015!!!

So thanks to this thread, we got a little something.  This credit limit is still very meager compared to the spouse's other credit limits:  $5,000 CSP, $300 IGH CHASE, $3500 CHASE FREEDOM, $3000 QS, $5000 Venture.    But happy nevertheless.

So:

Account opened November 2014.

Not sure about the last date used for the SP but it sounded like she was SP'ing us as we spoke to her!

This is the FIRST cli with Barclay on our ONLY card with Barclay.

Very LOW utilization with this thing because of the credit limit.  We ran $250 through since November 2014.

To anyone wondering if this works:  Seems to!  We were nice to the reps, patient, and expained in quasi-vague ways what we were looking for! Smiley Happy

Re: The BarclayCard CLI Soft Pull thread

I am not getting any LUV from Barclays, next month will be a year since my Ring approval and still with the same CL...I guess they did not like all my new accounts since then!!

Mia, did you call the UW line so they could transfer you to Customer Service?  The CSR's seem to know if there are offers on your account.  I had to specifically ask if there was "a lower apr available" or "any other offers" for my account?  She saw them right away.  The UW told me his department couldn't help with offers -- that's why he transferred us.

Ultimately, it's the "relationship manager" that you want to talk to!

Re: The BarclayCard CLI Soft Pull thread

Have had my Arrival car since Feb of 14 (PIF every month) with no CLIs.  Called the number listed in the thread and was told no SP CLI available.  In Nov of 2014 started carrying a balance, so next month will be 6 months adn we'll see if there is any auto love.  Would like to , but can't complain about the card though with a $17.5k CL and 0% APR.

It's been awhile since I've received an auto-CLI increase from them so I don't remember if it usually happens when a statement closes or anytime.  I know some have mentioned after the 6th or 7th statement but what about after that?

I'm so happy you tried, even if the CL is still low. I would advise calling and jumping through the flaming hoops again as soon as your 0% APR runs out and see if this makes any difference. Crazy how low your CL is to me since I still havn't gotten mine in the mail and was able to recon it up to $8.5K (from $5K approval). A lot seems dependent on your credit scores at the time of getting the card.

Anyways, if a whopping 5 people find value in this thread, even if it's just a little value, I'm glad I was able to help. Thank you for thanking me lol. The only reason I created this thread is because Amex and GE (Now a very stingy Synchrony) used to give me soft-pull CLI like it was candy. Because of that I researched here and found 2 different accounts of people getting soft pull CLI's with Barclay and wanted to see if this was possible for everyone else. So far, it seems to be about 33% of us having luck with either a CLI or APR decrease. If you count just how many people seem to get a soft pull CLI, even in this thread, it seems to be very few of us, probably 9% or so. We have multiple people here who are going to try in the next 2 months again (after getting no offers) so lets see how this pans out. This thread will be here as long as we keep getting new info on these mythical things.

Again, thank you to everyone who has contributed, you guys are the true heroes! Smiley Happy

7th statement from what I've read. After that, I've heard very little about anymore CLI (not that it never happens but rather that it's very infrequent). I would attempt this soft-pull CLI via 24/7 line if you receive none after your 7th statement's closing.

Re: The BarclayCard CLI Soft Pull thread

Called the number Baller listed. Asked for lower APR was transferred to the APR specialist person. I asked for lower APR she gave me 20.99 from 24.99 and then I asked if there were any SP increases available she said yes and asked for my income. Came back with a 700 increase from 2K so total now is 2700. My soft pull was on 2-21.
Thank you for thia thread. Had the card since 9/14
