Dept. I asked for apr reduction is the dept. that gave me my CLI vua SP.. Credit analyst typically don't handle SP CLI's that I have seen. They will do it on initial recon of approval or starting line, but otherwise it appears mainly a no or a YMMV. Seems at least on my case I have done both recon initial SL's on cards and sp cli, in my case I called the number on back of my card asked for apr reduction and transferred and that wasnt available then asked for SP CLI and tha was.. Thinking they are different dept's of some sort
We've had a few people say that they were transferred to a different department as well, I'm thinking retentions. Congratulations on the increase though, maybe the APR next time. I guess the recon line doesn't do these special things, only regular Customer Service.
How long have you had an open account with Barclay? 02/02/2015
What date did you get a soft pull CLI? 03/25/2015
Was this your first CLI with Barclay or not? Yes
(If you want to include this: How much % was the increase?) 23.5%

Congratulations! Did you call in for this or was it auto? Either way, nice bump in CL!

You are so welcome, even if I created this thread out of my own selfish intentions.
I accept Kudos, Thank You's, and or a car wash!
I'd try for the APR reduction in 6-7 months! Keep it going!

I'm interested if anyone else has heard that the only way to process a CLI is with a hard pull if you opened the account too long ago. It does seem like based on reading the success stories here that most of them occurred after a relatively short relationship with Barclays. I got the Rewards Mastercard just over a year ago so it may be more of an uphill battle.
I gave it a try today. Called the number on the back of the card, entered info and it said hit 6 to speak with a representative. It then told me I was being transferred to a relationship manager, which I thought was odd, expecting a lower tier of CSR at first. I asked if there were any offers for a lower APR and after a bit of checking the representative told me no. I didn't end up asking about an SP CLI because I was expecting to get transferred, but mainly because it sounded like an offshore rep and I didn't want to risk doing an HP. Can anyone chime in if they called for an SP CLI and the rep ended up quickly doing an HP before you got to say no? Thanks.
Well, I gave it a shot just now and it worked for me.
I called the number listed at the beginning of the thread. I asked if I could see about reducing my APR and if there was a way to increase my credit line without a hard pull. The guy said the only way to get an increase was with a hard pull. I said no on the hard pull and he said he'd have to transfer me to find out about the APR. Got transferred to a lady who basically said you're wanting to reduce your APR correct? Let me transfer you to a specialist or something (don't remember exact term). Another lady got on and I asked to reduce APR she said let's see what we can do. Came back and said she could reduce it to 23.99 from 24.99 so a whopping 1 point. Told her I'd take it. She asked if there was anything else she could do. I asked if there were any other promotions available on my account such as a credit increase without a hard pull. She stated indeed there was and offered a $500 increase. Told her I would take it as long as it wasn't a hard pull. She reassured me it wasn't.
My takeaway from reading some of the post and my experience is to open with the APR request first. Maybe even ask for an account specialist.
Also, I usually run about $1000-$1500 through this card and make 1-2 payments monthly. I've never paid any interest or been late on a payment. I think originally I started with $500 got an auto increase to $1500, then called in to increase it to $2050 with a hard pull. I've had the card since 11/13.
TL;DR
Got CLI from: $2050 to $2550
Got APR reduction of 1 point

Sorry, don't know why they aren't doing anything for you. Try again in a few months (or every month)

Congratulations!! 1% is 1%. Also, you got about a 24% increase in CL which is awesome! It does make sense that starting with APR reduction first helps you get to the right person...however, don't think it would help me any. All I have is the Ring card with an 8.00% and I have yet to hear anyone getting that lowered. So I don't know what I'd do to try and get transferred to the right person. I guess I could fake wanting an APR decrease, that's not beneath me at all lol.
