Thanks, yeah, I wouldn't like to get any cards with less useful stuff, since I'm fine with the setup I have at the moment and since Chase is my primary bank, the CSP seem interesting but I'll also look into the flagship, it does seem like a good card and NFCU has been pretty good to me.

IMHO the CSP and CSR are the most useful travel cards, but I'm not really a travel aficionado.

Re: Travel Card Approval

Me neither, my main purpose for trying to get the card is for the trip and maybe I'll need to move, so it would help me with the plane tickets, but other than that I don't really travel, with that in mind, would you think is really worth it? Or should I just get another card with different perks?

By in person, do you mean applying at my local branch?

And do you think it would be a good idea to do it during March or wait a month more?

Correct, at a local branch.   If you do visit a branch, you can ask a banker if there's any pre-approved offers available based on your Chase customer profile.

But, personally, I would wait.  The longer the better.  For instance, there's definitely potential with obtaining an additional card with NFCU once you've crossed 3 statement cycles/91 days.

If you're not planning to travel much, I would stick with no-annual-fee cash back cards.

Re: Travel Card Application

I think I'll follow your advice and wait for the CSP, unless I actually have a pre approval directly from Chase and instead I'll apply for the NFCU flagship, which knowing is a visa signature, it should at least have a $5000 credit limit, from what you guys are telling me, having a cc with that limit and waiting should be in my favor if I apply for the CSP in a couple of months.

Re: Travel Card Approval

What about the NFCU Flagship then, would you recommend me applying for that one after the 91/3?

Flagship would definitely be an option once you get around the March->April timeframe, all things considered.

Just be aware that if you want to invest in the Chase ecosystem in the future, you will be by my count, at 4/24 if until 10/21 if you apply for the NFCU Flagship. There's a good amount of value in having a combination of the Chase Freedom Unlimited + Freedom Flex to pair with a Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve. You would be potentially missing out on some of that if you get the Flagship now.

edit: You already have the Freedom Flex so you might want to see if the Freedom Unlimited with its $200 SUB is a big enough upgrade over your QS (IMO it is when paired with a CSP/CSR).

Re: Travel Card Application

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it, so it would be better to apply for the freedom unlimited, age that account a couple of months and then apply for the CSP? Would I have a better chance of approval for the unlimited if I apply in March?

Because, to be honest I rarely use my QS.

Re: Travel Card Application

I'm not a Chase customer so someone please correct me if needed, but since Chase is well known to not want to be the first to approve a given amount on a CL, if OP doesn't get at least $5k on the FU, the CSP is unlikely in a few months after that. Makes more sense to app Navy Flagship to get that $5k line, age it a ways, and then app CSP before the trip, doesn't it? I understand positioning for a trifecta but the point of the travel card is the upcoming trip, and CSP would be preferable to FU for that. Seems the smart plan would be to position OP's profile to maximize the chance to get CSP. Given current limits of OP's cards, Navy is likely a better shot than FU to get that needed $5k limit so Chase will consider a CSP this summer.
