USB Altitude Go: Steps to Recon for a Higher Starting Limit

Last week I applied for US Bank's Altitude Go card. I applied over the phone. I already have USB Cash+ and USB State Farm card.

Today, I received a call verifying my application. When I asked the representative if my application was approved, I was told that it is in the final stage of the approval process. I then asked about my Starting Limit (SL), and was told that the "recommended" limit is $3000.

I am not sure what they meant by "recommended" limit -- perhaps it's a computer recommended limit prior to the final review by the Underwriting Department.

I proceeded to tell the agent that this is a much lower limit than all of my other limits, including the limit on my USB Cash+ card, which is $20,000. As a data point, they pulled Experian, which was around 790 at the time of the inquiry (last week) (Other data points-- 0/12 for new accounts and 2 inquiries / 12 months, high income).

In any case, I was told that my request for a higher SL will be forwarded to the Underwriting Department. When I asked to check if I could speak to someone live, I was told No and that I could not even request a specific number (e.g. $20,000). At the best, the representative would send a note to Underwriting to re-review.

Question:  Has anyone had any recent successes getting someone from the Underwriting Department at US Bank on the phone?

I tried various backdoor numbers such as 800 947 1444 but at best I have only been able to get to someone who can simply give me the status of my application.

Is there another backdoor number at US Bank that can actually get one to Underwriting?

Thanks in advance!!

Unfortunately, no. There is no direct # to the UW team.

The UW department (for good reason) is walled-off from direct customer interactions. The agents/analysts you speak with are the go-between and who relay the information to/from that department. Another item to keep in mind, if you request a reconsideration of your SL, it can result in another HP. This is USB's UW policy.
