I applied for a card two days ago. I later got an email saying that I got a hard pull on my report. I looked and Discover put TWO hard pulls on my Equifax from that app, as well as one on Experian. Seems like they are having issues, from that and everything else I have gathered reading this.

If all you did was a pre approval check, and was not prompted to apply for anything then yes, contact the bureau the HP was reported to, get confirmation that indeed a HP was done. Call discover back and explain the situation that all you did was a prequal and did not apply to anything and you have confirmed with the bureau that indeed a HP was done.
Thats what I did and Discover showed great customer service. They called me back after an expedited investigation and assured the they will contact the bureau (Experian) and have the HP removed in up to 90 days. Still waiting for that, will update when I see removal of HP.
@CreditCuriositywrote:disputing an inquiry with a dispute to the CRA will comeback as inquiries are factual etc and nothing will happen.. You will have to get ahold of someone at discover and raise enough H*ll to get it recoded to a SP. No one ever will get a inquiry removed disputing it with a CRA, never heard of it happening
I didn't think so but good idea maybe calling Discover they may help.

@Anonymous, i was preapproved for a couple of cards but I never actually applied for them. Last report on 03/18 from cct showed the hp was still on there. @Anonymous I just got off the phone with Discover and they told me the same thing, that they have identified the problem and it'll take up to 90 days to come off my report. That it'll happen automatically. I
asked if the problem had been fixed, I told her I was afraid this would happen again if used the preapproval checker in the future she said they updated the website and fixed the problem. It's annoying to say the least, I'm trying to get my scores as high as possible before June /July because we wanted to start the process to get a mortgage! I lost 8 points from this HP, which isn't a lot but I need all the points I can get! Did your score go down? Thanks for the advice people, so the CRA's normally don't doing anything in response to a hard inquiry dispute?
Good news! hope all works out...
@creditwhipped86 Yeah my score did go down by 5 points. Atleast you got to see what youre preapproved for, seems like theyre still having issues if its happening to a few folks on here. They claimed that me taking the L helped them find the issue but I guess they havent fixed it yet.
Wishing you the best of luck!
Honestly, I thought this issue would be taken care of once they found out about it when I got the HP, but if its still happening I really dont want to risk it in the near future. Ill garden for a while till Chase shows me preapproved for the CSP or CSR, then ill consider the Discover It or CSP/R.
