I've had a deposit account with a small balance for several years. I might be interested in getting either the Autograph, Autograph Journey, or Bilt card. I've never had a credit product with WF.
Whenever I check the preapproval tool with WF, I never receive any offers. Today, I tried the preapproval tool on Expedia's site directly and am pre-approved for $8k at 29.24%.
Is this a good omen if I wanted to skip the Expedia cards and apply for one of the WF cards directly? My FICO 8 is currently around 700.

it's certainly a good sign but it's not a 100% given
if you can apply with branch, I would
Initial take is yes, you would get a core card but can you include other DPs @krmurrayjr10 ?

Currently have 1 inquiry on Experian and the newest account was opened 4 months ago. 100% payment history and no lates/collections/BKs. Credit card limits range from $2k to $20k with Citi, Chase, Amex, Navy, etc.
I do have a fraud statement on my report due to someone trying to open cards with my info a couple years ago. Since I don't have any history with WF, I don't know how much that slows down getting an approval from them.
Please let us know of your results.

@krmurrayjr10 the fraud statement will sometimes keep you from getting pre approved or pre qual'ed as will freezes, any fraud alerts etc.
inherently, these things make you more risky as a borrower which reflects. I've noticed some banks still will pre qual because it's a soft pull even with a freeze.
id also say no to WF. The card you pre qualed for is a co branded card which are almost always easier to get (there are multiple interested parties) and they also dont usually offer the best terms (ie youre looking at 35% interest most likely).
You'd possibly get approved for a core WF card for like 1,000 or 2,000. I dislike WF. they only expanded into credit cards about ten yrs ago. Prior, they were mostly a secured loan sorta bank. They are very very conservative.
WF can be very weird when it comes to an existing banking relationship and a credit card application. There are some on here who have reported that WF denied them and cited low balances in existing WF accounts or lack of activity.
So, after thinking it over a few days, I logged back into Expedia and went through the preapproval tool again. The tool came back with the same offer for the One Key + card, $8k SL at 29.24%.
Based on the previous comments that the core WF cards might be more difficult to get, I pulled the trigger on the One Key + card. The application went to pending because of the fraud statement on my credit report, but WF called me within just minutes to verify my identity with either my DOB or last 4 of SSN. The rep then submitted the app while she was still on the phone, and told me a few moments later it was approved per the terms of the preapproval.
The card immediately appeared when logging back into WF and I was able to immediately add the card to Apple Pay from WF's mobile app.
Congrats on the approval—I know this card doesn't get much love in general from those in the know, but organically I've found the best rates via Expedia for years on at least one element of one trip per year, so for me it was also a reasonable part of our travel strategy.
Congrats @krmurrayjr10 .
Please feel free to share your details and success in the Approvals section.
