thanks addict, any method to the madness there? Don't those Cap cards have an annual fee?

Ventures have AF but you can downgrade to Venture1 before AF posts.  You can get 2 Cap1 cards (if approved) with only 1 HP/per CB...but you have to apply same day.

mtg, did you mean upgrade?  So you don't have to pay teh fee when you get the card?

Quicksilver and Venture 1 don't have AF which is why I suggested them.

and if you use Uber, Uber and Cap1 Quicksilver offer 20% off ALL transactions!!! really adds up!

I just did the pre approval and the Platinum (0% fee first year, $19 after that), and Quick Silver 1 ($39 annual fee) came up. I'm sure I will get better offers once the 3 pfd's come off my report.

No, i meant downgrade...if you get the venture which has AF, you can downgrade to Venture 1 non-AF.  Most people like me get the venture AF because you get 2x points, spend $3k and get 40k points...with Venture1, you only get 1.5 points, have to spend $1k and get 20k points.  It wll depend on how much you spend/month.

ok,  you can tell I'm pretty new to the card biz, but talk like this really helps. I have only had my current cards for 2 months.

No worries...how much do you spend per month on things/bills you can pay with a credit card?
