I started a plan in April to app for my 2nd card on 7/7. I applied for my first the same day I became a member in March 2021. Approved for More Rewards, 3k limit. After reading on the boards, I switched all my banking over (including dd). Over the 3 years I was with them, I opened two standard checking, one savings, as well as a savings and checking for my minor son, and a home improvement loan that is now paid more than 50% down.
In April, I upgraded my most used checking to a Flagship and added a small EasyStart Certificate. I also paid $8500 on all cards, bringing all to zero (except NFCU which I continue to use heavily)
My reason for the 7/7 date was (1) I had two collection accounts on my TU that were eligible for EE on 7/1 (leaving just 1 left) and I wanted to give it time for those to reflect on my report before I apped and (2) I wanted my NFCU balnce to update and that statement cut is the 4th. Since April, my T9 has gone from 669 to 764.
Today I went to look at my account and saw they gave me an auto CLI to $4500. Is that going to affect my app on the 7th? Will it be the same effect as if I requested the CLI myself? This has thrown me a bit of a curve ball.

it can if that auto CLI causes you to be at the maximum amount navy is willing to lend to you at the moment, what I'd reccomend is asking navy to disable automatic CLIs for all of your navy card(s).
you could technically call them up and decline the CLI/ask for a CLD, but I don't think I would go that far given your exposure is < $10k just apply and hope for the best, good luck!
I don't think I'll refuse the CLI. I'm wondering if it means the removal of the collections and balance update has hit, though, and is the reason for the CLI

In the app, for your current credit card, check your FICO score to see if it has been updated
I am not 100% sure if their account review pull coincides with the FICO score they provide, but it's not a bad guess that it does

My score hasn't updated there yet. Is that something I need to wait for before I apply for my new card, even if myFICO is showing updated scores? I thought they did a fresh pull for new apps 😔

nope, you're good to apply for a new card
checking your FICO score in the app was just potentially a way of seeing if navy refreshed their internal pull which led to your CLI
good luck!

Auto cli usually affects a cli request as it is considered a change to the account but shouldn't really affect your next cc app unless Navy has you at current max. You will find that out real quick if you are denied on your cc app but I think you'll be ok. Just remember 80k is your max exposure so like Journey, Don't Stop Believing....

Thank you! Do you know if it matters if my score is updated on the NFCU app before I apply? My score has been updated on myFICO, but not Navy

I've never paid attention to it myself when applying . If the time was good, ie 3 months since last cc app with them then I just go for it. Navy is pretty good at knowing if you are worthy lol.
The only thing I'm worried about is in June, my Navy was the only balance I carried, but it was at 52% (I missed the darn statement cutoff date). It's now sitting at 13% which is a big difference. Also, I was hoping my updated score would help my interest rate.
