Would applying as a student help my case.

Hi guys, I'm gardening right now, but had a question for when i get out. I work as an electrician's apprentice which through my union makes me a part-time student. I'm currently making 65k a year (I know I need to make more, once im done apprenticeship it'll be 6 figures). But if i apply as a student do you think this would help or hurt my approval odds and SL amounts since i'm 18? Also should i start paying for the monthly credit checks here, currently only use experian?

Thanks in advance Smiley Happy

edit: I only bring up my income because I feel it might look weird if a student is making that much?

Re: Would applying as a student help my case.

Personally I'd apply as employed. If they have an issue with you making so much as an 18-year old, then they'll probably request income verification. There are many factors that include the SL that you get with a card, such as inq's, AAoA, AoYA, etc, with income being one of them. Usually with student cards you get a lower SL due to a combination of a lower income, lack of credit history, and other factors.

If you want to pay for the 3-credit monitoring that's up to you, but personally I use the scores that I get through my CC's. If you have Disco then they'll let you know if any new accounts opened, if any info appears on the dark web, and more. If you get an EX account they'll let you know of any changes to your score, too.
