Capital One Quicksilver One

I have two  seven month old secured cards with Capital One. Thought it was about time I try for a secured card.  Applied for a Capital Quicksilver One card was instantly denied. Can they deny you without hard pulling?

Yes they can. I have had 4 no HP denials in the last two days. Lol.

Keep in mind Nixon situation may be a different circumstances so yours may be a hardpull.  Report back if there are pulls as I am curious..

True. I am at the tail end of a long and successful app spree. I went from high end approvals to flat out denials with no HP. It's possible i've hit my "credit ceiling"

Capital One has several cards that you can't be automatically approved for, if you already have two other cards

These include already having two of any of their cards and applying to the following: the Secured card, the Platinum cards, the QuickSilver One, and the Journey.

From the full terms and conditions:

"By applying, I understand that I am not eligible for this offer if:
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
  • ...
  • I have 2 or more open credit card accounts with Capital One.
  • ...
  • etc. etc.."
You could possibly be automatically approved for the regular Quicksilver, the Venture, or the Venture One. These cards allow you to have 5 open accounts. Have you run the prequalifier tool to see if you're prequalified for either of the ventures or the regular QuickSilver?

Also, I keep saying "automatically approved" because I have a secured card and a QS1 and I tried applying for a second card (from the prequalifier) and it denied me, but then I got a letter asking for verification of SSN and Mailing Address in the mail, so I think I will be approved for a third card in the "two card only" categories once I fax my info.

Did you try to prequalify?

Re: Capital One Quicksilver One

It wouldn't hurt to call/write them and let them know you didn't realize there was a two card cap for that level, but that your other two cards are secured cards and that you would like to keep them open but grow you're unsecured lines without having to cancel those cards yet.
