I applied for U.S. Bank Cash + Visa Signature

Hi everyone,

I applied for the U.S. Cash + Visa Signature Card, but I didn't get an instant decision when I applied for the card. So I decided to apply for the Citi Custom Cash Card (which I got approved) instead on the same day. A couple of weeks later, U.S. bank finally approved me for the credit card with a SL of $5000, which is great!

With that said, does that mean that this card will show as an open account on my credit report even when it's not activated?

Since it's coming through the mail, should I to keep it? I'm worried because I have two cards and I hear it's not good practice to have too many cards in a short term.

I'm also considering on closing my First Progress secured Credit Card, since I don't use it anymore. I only had it to build credit. It's only a $200 CL.

One or two additional cards are not a big deal! You should be safe.

You added couple of nice CCs. Good job 👍👍

Congratulations on your approvals! I think you should be fine with these 2 approvals/keeping both!

@DarkKnight_Credit you do not have the choice to "not keep" the US Bank card. As soon as you hit that apply button you expressed consent to open that account. They approved you based on your profile, and regardless of if you activate the physical card or not, that tradeline will now be reporting on your CRs, likely beginning with the last business day of the next month. You just landed two great cards, that is not too many! Be happy with your approvals and enjoy your rewards from your new cards. Congrats!

Re: I applied for U.S. Bank Cash + Visa Signature

Congratulations on your US Bank Cash+ approval! Having both cards open will not negatively impact your credit in the long term and they're both great cards.

If you no longer have a use for it, closing your secured card would be a good idea so you can get your deposit back. It will continue to age on your reports for 10 years after you close it.
