I can't dispute it, I've tried. It's a paid judgement from a court. I just need to wait for it to fall off. Unless I can get a letter of expungement to the court, which is something that I and the plaintiff would have to agree on. But yeah, 7 years by law is what I was told unless you can prove it's not yours

If the judgement is paid you can try to "vacate the judgment". It takes only a week.

But that letter is nonsense, it gives no real reason why they decided to reduce your credit. The reasons that are listed is noting but generic responds that you normally see from Free Fico Scores analysis.

I would just say wait about 3-6 months and try CLI.

This really sucks, my question is: did they HP you before AA?

No they didn't HP me. I tried vacating the judgement. Wouldn't stick.

So, I had combined two of my capital one quicksilver one cards that I don't use anymore, which are both about a year and three months old, to my Venture card so I would have a 10k limit. Well, as soon news of one of the '' closed and paid" accounts showed up on my experian alerts, two days later, AMEX reduced my credit limit on my BCP from 3.5k to 1k! I'm so infuriated! All I did was move limits and close two accounts that I do not use. I recieved an email from AMEX this morning with the info, also saying that I would get a letter about it as well. Should I call to explain my situation so they can review it?

Unless you have long history or high income,  Amex does not like 10k.  They did not AA me, but could not get cli.  Broke the card up into two, much better.

Can you please elaborate what you mean? 10K on one card? I have a (relatively) short history, low income, and a 10K Amex. They seem to love me so...

They do not care if it is on their card, they do not like it on other cards, especially flexible spending limit.

Ups...had no idea..already over 3x my income with my CLs I hit the CLI button on activation on SPG and got the 20K I requested approved. I did it mainly because AX slashed down my limit on BCE from 25K to 14K and gave me 11K on SPG. So I figured for a HP they could approve a little more than I had before. I guess I should not be so greedy in the future 😛

While I would love to grow that 3x like you, I am stopping, want a house! (And here I said I would be renter for life, retiring instead in a vacation zone).

Got sold off last night. Consolidating some today.  I think they will nerf some cards soon.

"... after the card issuer posted a 38% decline in fourth-quarter earnings and provided a bleak outlook for next year."

Can they still lower my Apr in the future?  Did I miss the boat?  They did mention a new policy of only asking once a month for reductions.  Ah, if I could only take CSR for word.

Imperfectfuture, I'd appreciate an answer to message 26 in this thread. I know it got buried among other posts.

Re: AA from AMEX

Sad after reading this thread. I would hope Amex is not on a mission because of losses. Wow. Im currently @ 15% usage on my Amex. 3k out of 20k. Hope they don't freak out when i travel in a couple of months and drop another 5k on it.

Ok! So without a HP they only went by your score ... This make me think they could have change the profile or requirements for BCP. It is possible that now you need higher score to qualify, from the time that they give it to you. therefore instead off canceling your card, they just reduce the CL...

Other then that, there is no logical explanations. Even with your judgment or anything else, is not like they didn't know what you had before they qualified you!

Figure out what card best suits you (BCP-BCE) and then IMHO regrow the TL

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?
