NFCU Go Rewards has a $50 minimum redemption.  I consider $50 to be too high.

This is a good 3% cash back card for gas and dining.  I wish it were gas and groceries instead of gas and dining, because those of us with Amex MR cards, Chase UR cards, or Citi TYP cards already receive 3% dining rewards..  Also, this card has foreign transaction fees that would cancel out the rewards if the card were to be used for dining overseas.  On the bright side, apparently this card is not subject to Chase's 5/24 rule.

The AARP cards sign up bonus is nice. After that is considered, I prefer the Bank of the West Cash Back World Mastercard. 3% on Grocery, Dining, and Gas. With automatic statement credit at the end of each quarter, so you don't have to worry about minimum redemptions. It does have FTF though.

Re: AARP Offer

I know with the AARP medical insurance you need the AARP membership, which is like $12 bucks a year or something. Do I need to get that before applying for this card? Or is it independent? Thanks.

You don't need to be an AARP member to enjoy the benefits of the card. Enjoy!

Re: AARP Offer

I saw this offer too and have been comtemplating taking it b/c it is indeed a great offer. But my only beef with Chase is once they give you a low limit--you're pretty much stuck with it for the life of the card. Yes there is the rare occasional auto CLI and requested and approved CLI with a HP--but I"ve never seen either on the 3 cards I have with them (FR-$1.5K + CSP and Hyatt $5K each) and I've had them all 2 to 3 years. Even though my proflle has drastically improve since then (with the exception of a somewhat recent 30 day late) I wouldn't want to app and get another $5K lifetime limit---so I'm kind of leaning towards passing as of right now.

You beat me to it.  Barclay Arrival + has 100 dollar redemption.  I guess the reason these cards have higher redemption levels is they are hoping you never redeem them.  I got my 50 dollars from Go Rewards mostly from dinning a lot of it outside of the country and never used the card again.  With the 50 dollar threshold it does cause me to not the use the card.
