Have been trying to get my oldest card which has the highest APR permanently reduced for quite some time. Could only ever get temporary promotional offers via chat. Decided to call in as the chat rep suggested it. Well, I think I was able to get it reduced permanently by 3%. Went back to online chat to re-confirm and it looks like they reduced the purchase APR from 29.24% to 26.24%
Congrats!

Thanks. I needed to re-confirm on chat bc I was doubtful 😅
I'll keep the evidence in case they change it.

Just like you I had couple of APR reductions that end up not sticking. Hopefully AMEX had a change of heart!
Thanks. I'll keep my fingers crossed it stays the same. Kept asking on the phone if it's permanent and the rep said that there is no "end date. " I take that to mean permanent until they decide to make a change 😅
That's pretty cool! It's nice to get those temporary reductions but a permanent one is the way to go😀

I figured since I was nearing the 4th year of having the card and it being my oldest credit card( not counting other accts), maybe, just maybe, they would be willing. I checked my online card member agreement and sure enough the change is reflected so I think it's permanent.
Kudos! This is excellent.

Thank you. It certainly took persistence and continuing to ask but I know timing and profile changes definitely made a difference. I'll try again when the timing feels right. Worst they can say is " try again next time. "
