Re: AMEX Cards

This is as good a place as any to ask, so...

What's the appeal of having multiple Amex charge cards?

I Have Way Too Many of These.

American Express - No CLI or Appreciation Gift in 7 Years

Citibank - Handing Out Credit Limits Like Candy

Chase - Surprisingly, Still Tolerating My Credit-Chasing Ways

Bank of America - My Newest Bae.

Everyone Else.

Re: AMEX Cards

At this point if you fly Delta often, it might be worth it to get a Plat, and a PRG to buy stuff on?

Rewards acceleration and benefits.

For example it was common for any serious Amex MR user who frequents this and a few other forums to pick up a Zync just for this reason alone.

The same could be said for the PRG which offers a different rewards set / benefits than the Plat as I understand it from reading various bits here.  Doing something like Green/Gold doesn't make any sense, but other combinations potentially do.  Currently there's backdating to consider as well, as the number of charge cards IIRC is tracked seperately from the revolvers; I believe it's 4 and 4 on personal or at least it used to be... I might be in a place some years or decades from now where it makes sense to ask for the Senior Green card for a minimal AF and however many years backdate to 2012 in my case even if I keep the Zync all that time which I intend to if I can.

Not sure what you mean.  AU's are users of your card account.  They don't have their own CL's.  You can restrict how much they can use but the total CL of a given card is whatever your CL is for that card.

People have said 29k max.

29K max for what?  29K isn't an absolute limit.  Plenty have much higher limits.  I'm at 44K total.

Really should be its own thread.  Appeal varies regardless of the card(s) in question.  Look the card(s) and see if it's/they're a good fit.  None of them suit me so I don't have any.

Re: AMEX Cards

I was just approved for Blue Cash and I need to see what I was approved for.  If not high enough CL then I will close.  I won't accept small CL's anymore.  I also won't go through Financial reviews.  I don't have to do it with any other CCC so not doing it with Amex.

Barclays US Air $17K| TTCU $15K| Citi Diamond $10.5K| Discover IT $9000| CapOne $2K| Best Buy $2K

Once you lock in your MSD (Member Since Date) the year of subsequent cc's will reflect your MSD.  Additional cc's*, will reflect the month of THAT card and the year of your MSD.

If you are a primary cardholder, your CR's will be backdated as well.  Amex recently changed their policy to exclude the CR backdating for ACMs - when you become a primary, your CR's would be backdated for YOUR new cc.

*personal cards - business cards it's a YMMV

Although that is your perogative but  are you aware of their 3x CLI policy?
