Re: Amex ED Contactless does exist!

The old (vertical) Chase Slate had contactless as well, but I had to give it up to get my account 'upgraded' to get the EX credit score.

Re: Amex ED Contactless does exist!

Amex is now shipping contactless by default. I applied for the ED and PRG on the same day, both approved, both were shiped with contactless, without me specifically asking for it.

PRG is contactless?  Just got the Platinum a month ago and it certainly isn't contactless.. I didn't think any of the charge cards were contactless, although I could certainly be wrong.

out of all my cards, the only one that has the contactless logo on it is my original vertical chase slate visa. even my old freedom doesn't have it.

Re: Amex ED Contactless does exist!

I feel like that the card companies think contactless on physical cards is dying, what with Apple Pay and similar out. Also didn't help that the former never got much use by anyone.

As for my cards, my BCE and Diners Club have it, but the former has a FTF (and used to not work at certain places, such as Walgreens) and the latter isn't "chip based" contactless (so it'll have issues with transit in Europe and will make you sign for large enough transactions when tapped as opposed to requiring a PIN). It would sure be nice if there were more options for it on the Visa/MC side.

Re: Amex ED Contactless does exist!

That card looks like the dual interface version.

Have you actually tested it to see if it works contactless? My dual interface BCE never works contactless. I used to have the old contactless card and that always worked, but I've just received my THIRD replacement dual interface card and none work via contactless, the transaction is always rejected.

I have tested both my ED and PRG at my local grocery store and both work just fine with contactless.

Re: Amex ED Contactless does exist!

I use contactless bce at whole food market all the time, but contactless takes longer to scan/process than chip. One time, there was an old lady after me at check out, she was standing there giving me death glare like "is this idiot must've never used a credit card before", while I was standing there waiting for the card reader to scan my bce card.
