Re: Amex offers - Amex becoming a hotel point king

The Starriott-Carlton offers have been good, also.

There was a $60 credit for $300+ at Starwood legacy properties that I expected to get last month by ordering room service or having many drinks, but when I checked in I was sad to see that both the restaurant and bar were closed due to remodeling and it was only a 1-night stay.  Elite member breakfast was comped of course and served in a conference room.  I had another Starwood stay this past weekend, but since it wasn't in the US it didn't qualify.

There is a current $60 credit for $300+ at Marriott legacy properties that I will get credit for this weekend, and I also have a $100 credit for $500+ at Ritz-Carlton properties (worldwide) that I'm not sure I'll be able to use.  I have a stay in Montreal planned for next month, but the only two rooms at the Ritz-Carlton available are $1,000 or $9,900 per night, and with the latter I'd be sleeping on the couch so that's not happening.

I don't shop at the Mart, either, but I was tempted to order something a few days ago from them that was about $60 when I saw the Amex Offer and knew that I'd be getting SkyMiles for the purchase as well, but alas it was WM Grocery and they don't ship.  No way I'm trekking way out into the suburbs to pick something up there!  So yeah, my convictions aren't so strong that I can't be bought off, just as long as it doesn't inconvenience me.  LOL

I don't go their stores but buying online I have gotten some good deals and they ship very quickly. Cheaper and faster than Amazon.

@Anonymous I live quite close to an Amazon fulfillment center.  Same-day delivery is pretty hard to top!  Smiley Wink

You must have prime. I live near one to and they hold stuff for a week before shipping it. I only order from Amazon now if no other online store carry the product.
