So I just got off the phone with BBVA, inquiring about eligibility for the credit card, given that I live in SC. They asked if I had received a pre-qual mailer, that they sometimes do send those out and I replied that I haven't, but would it be possible to be placed on the mailing list? She took some information to verify identity, didn't do any credit pull, and also checked that I could start a checking account via online application if I wanted to do so. She said she was going to assign a pre-qual number for my name and get me on the mailing list and that they usually send those out about every 6 weeks.
So, a little phone call may get me in the door. Sounds promising.

Good Luck!

I truly hope that the representative actually does what they say they are going to but be prepared to be disappointed because while they have an excellent credit card, their reps feed a lot of bull.
Good luck! I hope you get on the list. If they do, this will be a great DP for out of the geofence users.

I have a BBVA account in Spain. Is there any partnership between the US BBVA and Spanish one?
Any advantage i can take care of? I live in FL.

Florida is in their fence anyway.
I know that BBVA USA to BBVA transactions have some sort of discount but I don't know about otherwise.
When I opened my card two weeks ago they offered me a $100 credit for direct deposits to a checking account if the deposit was over $500.
Went through app process, got approved for 7.5k. Then they offered the checking account SUB. Took it, then they wanted proof of identity. Sent it. Then they requested front and back of license. So re sent it. Then they sent a follow up for wanting proof of address and a copy of SS card. Sent it.
Here we are two weeks later and about 1k in spend on their CC and me pushing payments via NFCU to PIF and I am still waiting lol.
What a weird bank.
But the card IS good. I DO like the rewards structure.
But still, a very strange bank

I have A BBVA Checking/Saving and CC
I only use The CC .. keep a total of $40 across checking/savings![]()
I'm definitely doing the same thing.
Will do one ACH transfer from my checking with my credit union to their checking account.
If that doesnt get me my $100 statement, I won't try any further. I'll call it a wash.
But Im not using it beyond that. Not even for one direct deposit to get the $100.
They're just to weird lol
They bother me.
I will say that I tried to pay my credit card this month and I accidentally tried to draw on my BBVA checking because their app defaults to that account and I wasn't paying attention (I'm not used to having a BBVA checking) and they didn't charge me a fee for the payment not clearing (I opted out of overdraft protection), just sent me an email and a snail mail letting me know the payment failed and they didn't close my card so that was nice. I went and made the payment from my external account the second I got the email so that probably helped. I'm just keeping the checking account until it's 6 months old (April) and then I'm closing it. My $25 initial deposit will just stay there until I use it towards my card to $0 the account and then I'll call and close it.
I have a feeling that failed payment likely just bucketed my card indefinitely at $2K as well so I guess it's a good thing I only throw about $200 a month on it.
