BJ's switch from Comenity to Cap1

Have there been any updates anywhere as to when this switch is expected to happen?

Re: BJ's switch from Comenity to Cap1

I looked all over. It was posted here in Jan it was going to happen. No real timeline. Still nothing. The website now has the Bread name.

You'll see if it does. It just might be a new account on your reports per @K-in-Boston noted.

How do things like this typically work if the issuer that is taking over otherwise wouldn't approve someone for credit? I am not necessarily worried, but  Cap1 does not seem to love me as I don't really spend anything on my cards with them and I never see anything pre-qual on their site.

They probably just won't ever CLI you I guess. I don't think they'd shut you down though, if that's what you're asking.

You must be shopping at BJs! Then what is the point of paying for the CC and membership! Therefore when Cap1 sees usage they are going to give you CLI on that card.

This is still interesting as I saw that on here with no exact date.

I am an AU on my mom's BJ $17k card and when she added me, they never asked for my SSN or anything like that. Just the name to be added onto the card. If it is heading over to Cap 1, I am sure Cap 1 would have taking over the account and probably would have asked my mom for a SSN for me; since they do copy the history of the card to other people just by SSN.

Oh companies can figure out exactly who you are even without SSN. Just using your name and public records.

Re: BJ's switch from Comenity to Cap1

During the Q4 2021 earnings call, it was stated:

"We have chosen Capital One to help us take this program to the next level. We will spend the next year designing a program that will pass even more value to our members, again, knowing that they will reward us. We believe that this will be very powerful over time, and we look forward to moving ahead with our new partner in the early days of next fiscal year."

Not sure exactly when their 2022 Fiscal Year began (or begins), but with the complaint filed against ADS for the holdup on the transition, it doesn't seem imminent.  The current issuer is also still accepting new applications.

Shopping at Bj's a few days ago and size of purchase on card required interaction with customer service rep in store. During conversation I mentioned my displeasure with my card not reporting to the bureaus since May. She said they have had a lot of complaints and should be switching to CapOne in next couple of months. We'll see.
