Also OP when did your freedom get closed?
@CreditCuriousity wrote:Time to buy some gas on my freedom and hope this offsets it and I fly under the radar.. Obviously amazon tracks GC to chase, especially being a $100 exactl amount w/no tax..... Least it was sent to another state and address which shows it wasn't for me!
Am I getting worried for nothing on my Freedom?
I meet the perfect profile although I didn't even come close to maxing out the $1500 quarter, but did make the $500 spend in the first week then charged a few small things here and there after... Err really was hoping being with Chase was part of my rebuiding and still hope so.
The theory I noted earlier today, I'm still going with: Chase is on a mission before December 31 to close X thousands of accounts, and they are using any tag they can to make it happen. I just do not see how this incident is a "bonus abuse" situation. They are only using that terminology because it is loosey-goosey language in the T&C.
My opinion.
It just keeps getting better and better....
My mother (had) a Chase Freedom card for two years and the $100 Staples gift card she got me for Christmas resulted in her account getting terminated as well. They sent her the same notice. She is not an AU or vice versa and we have separate accounts.

Ohhhhhh, interstate mpney laundering and mail fraud! Expect the FBI real soon.
As I've said before, IF crackdowns happen, YOUR intentions don't matter. If buying a gift card is bad, the CCC doesn't care what you say you intended for, their rewards burden is the same. Volume should matter, but nothing to prevent MS sending cards to lots of confederates to cash out.
But if you believe the latest thread, a $50 BB gift card triggered a Chase shutdown.

Wow. just wow.
This doesn't make sense. Why go after the little guy? I'm sure if they looked they could close thousands of accounts with more maufactured spending. Fifty dollars? There's something missing. There must be more to it. Op may not know the real reason.
Yep more is coming... Normallly not a person that worries but wow, they hit your mom too? So GC and not wanting to honor bonus is what appears to be setting them off along with 5x categories? What is the point of having 5x, bonuses if you spend x dollars, etc!

LTL can't tell if you are serious or joking on the last part.... Think it is something different?
