Cap 1 cli--I don't get it

Well, I have 2 Cap 1 cards.  One has a 3500.00 cl and the other has a 1000.00 cl.  My TU is 684 and Eq is 687.  I have just a couple of baddies left on my reports, all over 3 years old.  My husband has 1 Cap 1 card with a 1000.00 limit.  He has many more baddies due to things that were only in his name over the years.  He only has this Cap 1 and an Orchard with a 400.00 limit.  His Eq is 639 and TU is 584.

I just logged into our accounts--his cl has gone to 6000.00.  I almost had a heart attack.  I have had no increases.  I just don't get it.  I do have a number of other cards in my name only....and a much shorter aaoa than he does.  I just can't figure out how these companies operate.  I am not complaining--just confused!

What kind of Cap One card you have?  How long have you had the card?

Re: Cap 1 cli--I don't get it

My husband's card is just the basic credit-steps card.  It started at 300.00 and went to 500.00.  He called and asked for the increase to 1000.00 last fall, back when they were still giving increases over the phone.  He opened the card 5/2008.

I have the same exact card--still sitting at 1000.00.  I opened mine 8/2007.  My other one is a rewards card opened 8/2000.   It was also a credit- steps card, but it started at 3000.00 and then went to 3500.00 in 12/2008.  No increases since.

He has carried a balance often on this card--he uses it when he travels...always pays at least 100.00/month.

Sorry--that 8/2000 should be 8/2008!

Re: Cap 1 cli--I don't get it

I opened my card October 2001 while in college.  It started with a $300 limit.  After a couple of years it went to $500.  November 2008 it went to $750.  It hasn't moved since.   I haven't paid any interest on card in the last 4 years. I never carry a balance.

Re: Cap 1 cli--I don't get it

It is just crazy.  He has a number of collections on his report, including a foreclosure.  Only one collection shows unpaid.  Many late payments on various closed accounts.  All of the negative info is over 3 years old.  Also an old tax lien.  He has not applied for any new credit in a long time--not since he got the 2 re-builder cards.  He has a 500.00 balance on the Cap 1 right now from a business trip.  The interest rate on this card is still 3.5%, but I think it is going up sometime next year--I can't remember what the new rate will be.

Maybe a CLI with Cap One is part of an internal lottery system.  If the computer picks your account you get a CLI.

Re: Cap 1 cli--I don't get it

Is it possible that Cap1 started giving CLIs again??? I'm also stuck at 1k and it's the lowest CL of all my other 3 cards...

Bingo!

I just got a $1K cli on mine. Funny thing is, the statement cut  and the account updated, then 2 days later I get the CLI.
