Cap 1 secured; If I don’t use it while they close it automatically?

I had a capital one secured MasterCard for seven years, I haven't really use the card much, I did have a small balance (200$) on it just to show payment history each month.  But I paid it in full this past month. Just curious if I leave it empty Annnnd in the sock drawer will they eventually close it and send me back my deposit?

Yes if you don't use your CC eventually the account will be closed for inactivity. How long does it take for this to happen? Anywhere between 6-18 months usually but YMMV. The good news is Capital One has gone back to graduating their cards to unsecured once again. Maybe try giving them a call to see if you can get yours unsecured? That way you get your deposit refunded but also keep the card open. If you just want your deposit back from the card you can close the account yourself and this will also trigger the refund. Keep in mind when the account is closed by you the refund takes about 2-3 months to receive as they will not issue the refund until after two statement cycles.

Probably not, why would they give you your money back unless you asked for it. It's not like they have to keep money in the reserves for it.

That card will stay open as long as you don't request account be closed and deposit returned.

Has your situation changed enough in the last seven years to where you don't require $200.00 secured card?

I don't need the money at all, and I have 2 Amex cards, and 2 visa signature cards from Penfed , additionally I have a zero balance non annual fee quicksilver card from Capital one.   The secured card was the type where you could make as many deposits to grow your spending limit, and I think I put in $200 of my own money, and then after a few months they increased the line to $500 without me requesting.  But has never graduated and anytime I did request for a graduated version I was told that I would never be able to do s.  🤷🏻‍♂️
