Well after finally paying off my Quicksilver and and putting Cap one in a time out. from no where i just got 3 bt checks from cap one. 0% apr for 12 months and looks like no Transfer fee. Also on the letter it says i could use one of the checks to make a purchase at 0% for the same 12 months. Does this mean i can write a check to myself? any advice would help. Taxi.
Correction. there is a 3% transfer fee. it says it can be used for personal loans or just about anything. just wondering if i want to carry that balance. hmm.
if it could grow your relationship with capital one and that is something you want to do then go for it. otherwise I would save them for holidays or more pressing issue. sounds to me like you have already implied you dont need it, so dont use it!

Dont really need it. But was trying to consolidate all my balances say onto 2-3 cards total. Currently have balances on about 8. Was going to pay off 3 and consolidate the rest. i just paid cap one off. my quicksilver so i have a 0 balance because i was trying to avoid paying them any interest. But with this just in the mail. its saying i can have 0 interest anyway. would love to write myself a check and have the cash in the shoe box as a kitty. and pay them back slowly with no interest. just not sure if i can write one to myself. Since im Self employed i could write one to the business. so no problem as it said i could use it for purchases or even personal loans. its a way of forcing me to save. since i would have to pay it anyway. my relationship with cap one is pretty strong. i have 3 cards. 2 of which are 2 years old. no issues ever. the problem with saving them for the holidays is they gave me a deadline on the checks to use no later than september 24th.
I get the cap 1 b/t checks in the masses recently. about ever 2-3 months.
after you make the balance transfer, nothing can be charged to that card until you are done paying off the b/t.
so if you have something say like a netflix subscription and it goes through after the b/t, u lose the 0 percent on the b/t.
not sure if u mentioned knowing that lol.
and you can most deinitely write a check to yourself.
also like someone else stated, you must use them before the exp. date. if u use them after to write a check to yourself, they may approve it but u will start paying apr on it immediately.
once u get them in the mail once, you will get them constantly. so if no need now, just wait and they will come again VERY SOON
If i go into my archeives of things not shredded yet, I could pull out a stack of these. they will sent 18 month ones too
I'm just thinking from a security perspective, but you may want to tell them not to mail you those checks via snail mail. You could still do the balance transfers online.
Something seems just wrong from a security persepctive about banks mailing blank checks like that. Just a thought. (from someone who has had important credit card info compromised)
i get what u mean but the only way to utilize them for check writing to yourself is to get the checks.
