Capital One changed Due Dates if your due date was the 23rd, 24th or 25th

Not sure if this has been brought up but if you have a due date of 23rd through the 25th Capital One has changed your due date and close date. Can't recall the reason given. They stated they mailed something which is very possible but I didn't see it.

I have 4 cards with a chosen due date of the 24th, close date of 27th which is the reporting date.  Although the site still shows a due date of 7/24 for all of my accounts, it has a note stating "your new payment due date is .....".  All cards are now different.  By now all my cards are usually reported so I called.

For the account below technically the due date is 8/4 with the next due date being 9/4.  I was told I can't change the due date this cycle but can after 8/7 to the date options available for my location, which I will do for all 4 accounts so they all again report on the same day.

If this applies to you know that charges after what you previously knew to be the reporting date may be reported if not paid before the real due date this cycle (not shown on the site). The 23rd, 24th, and 25th will no longer be an option for any location.

Re: Capital One changed Due Dates if your due date was the 23rd, 24th or 25th

Thanks for this, I was wondering if it was just me.  I had no prior notice about it.  My QS reports on 27th and I was trying to check the site at 3am but got the message "we hit a snag, we are working on it. Try again in a bit".  When I finally was able to log on (around 9:30am EST), I saw the notice that my next due date will be 9/4.  I initially thought this was becasue I sent in a large payment on the 26th so that it would report a low balance.  My other Cap1 cards (VO & QS1) don't close on the same days or the target 23-24th.

I also noticed that the balance hasn't reported on CreditWise (Cap1) or Credit Journey (Chase).  Statement hasn't cut yet either.

The statement will not be cut on the 27th nor balance report until the "not seen" actual new statement/close date.  So although on one of my accounts it shows my next payment is due 9/4, it is technically 8/4 (extended beyond 7/24 shown) and close/report date will be 8/7 per what I was told on the call, even though the site still shows 7/24.   So it will not report to the CB's until after 8/7. The "not seen" new close date is actually effective now.  Other than possibly the notices they sent, you can't see that 7/24 is not actually your due date this month as this change occurred after the 6/27 statement that generated the now "fake" 7/24 due date.

9/4 is actually the following months due date with a close/report date of 9/7.

I have a reoccurring charge that hits on the 30th or 31st of the month.  It would normally not be reported for this billing cycle due to the normal report date of the 27th. But with this mid cycle change it will appear on my new 8/7 statement and if I don't pay this charge by the actual due date of 8/4 it will be reported to the CB's.

The CSR stated they have received several calls from people who obviously monitor their credit regularly or who expected to receive their statement on-line on the 28th but waited until the 29th to call in case it was pushed out due to the weekend.

Wow that’s going to mess up a lot of people.

I have my QS set to the 21st so it looks like I’m safe for now.

Re: Capital One changed Due Dates if your due date was the 23rd, 24th or 25th

I have three Capital One cards. I haven't seen any notification as of yet. But I see my new due dates in my account. So I called for clarification.

The upshot is that two of cards formerly had due dates on the 23rd and statement dates on the 26th. The new due dates on those accounts are the 27th and statement dates will be on the 2nd. The big change is five or six days between the due date and closing rather than three.

On my third card, the due date remains the 15th and the statement date remains the 18th (still three days apart).

I guess the impact here on the board is that previously, we could always tell people that Capital One statement dates were always three days after the due date. Now it's more complicated.

Hmmm. Didnt get any notice yet. My Savor is the 1st, QS 1st, and Venture the 14th. Maybe its the due dates in the 20+ days of the month?

Re: Capital One changed Due Dates if your due date was the 23rd, 24th or 25th

Also HeavenOhio, I misspoke earlier. The account with the reoccurring charge at the end of the month is on a different account with a different new due date. Although it won't hurt me, this account may actually report that balance even though I wasn't expecting it to this month if it doesn't post before the close date (it is currently pending and cannot make a payment until posted).

This specific cycle could be an issue for some. I think it would be quite unfortunate if an account ends up reporting unexpectedly for anyone planning an app, particularly MTG now, trying to do AZEO or any other strategy to get the best score during this transition time. If they're not aware of this change an account can end up reporting when it was not expected to. I think after a month or 2 we will all be use to it and can change our due dates to fit our needs.

FireMedic1, I was told it impacts only those with due dates of the 23rd, 24th and 25th.  Once this cycle passes I have the option for the 20th or 28th based for my location.  Apparently, depending on where you live determines your optional due dates.

Yeah, the rep said it only affects those three dates.

Double-checking recurring charges is a good idea.
