Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

I tried the link, it showed an upgrade to QS/Venture.  I currently have a Platinum Mastercard with quicksilver rewards..lol.  As in, I had the PM, then called and asked to be upgraded to QS, and they did it, but it always still showed as PM in my cap1 credit portal.  I was reading about the QS and since it states it is a WEMC, I decided to do the upgrade, in the hopes that I get the WEMC.  Also, my cap1 credit portal now shows I have a Quicksiver card.  Anyways, thought I would share.

Come to think of it ... That's what I have, an original Plat with QS rewards. I kinda forgot about that. That's the account I first accepted the upgrade on. I wonder if that's what this is, an actual QS? Hmmm

Went ahead and took the plunge. Upgraded my 2 year old QS1 to NF QS. Now I just hope it doesn't affect my cli request in June especially since they always come back saying "there has already been a recent change to your account ".

That brings up an interesting question -- with so many folks here on MF who are aware of the CLI time period, I wonder if requesting CLIs is why so many folks don't get upgrade offers when they check.  Wonder if only one or the other are allowed during the same time schedule.

No, I don't think a CLI resets a clock on upgrades. CapOne considers consolidating cards to be a CLI and I was still able to convert my remaining Platinum card to a VentureOne last year.

Tried the link. Started looking like it was just going to sign me into my account like  others have reported. It offered me an upgrade on one of my Quicksilver 1's to a Quicksilver with no annual fee instead of the 39 dollars I was paying. I took it. I don't use it a ton and was going to close it soon if I didnt get rid of the annual fee. Now i think I might role my other Quicksilver one into the Quicksilver and close it so I have 0 annual fees. I could try and wait it out to see if they will upgrade my other Quicksilver one card in a few months or so...which I think is the better course of action. I have till March 2018 when the next fee gets charged.

Unless the QS1 is your oldest card, I'd definitely do the combination...and I'd even think seriously about it if it WERE your oldest card.  Larger existing credit lines tend to produce larger starting lines with new creditors, as they want to appear at least as good if not better than your current cards to encourtage you to spend with them.

So to improve your overall credit health, larger lines are generally better lines

So you think I should be good to go in June for a cli request? Even with this type of upgrade? I tried this past December and was denied due " to many recent accounts"  I then converted my Venture 1 into my quicksilver which I do know equates a cli with them.

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

I clicked on the upgrade link again tonight and saw this:

Cap1.PNG

I think Cap1 just gave away that they are going to give me an auto CLI when my statement cuts, since my limit is $3800 and still says so when I look at my account online. Today is the last day in my billing cycle. Will confirm in approvals if it happens! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

Thanks MyLoFICO!  Changing my Platinum to a QS has been on my radar for a while and I kept putting it off since my CL on that card is pitiful and they keep denying CLI so I stuffed it into the SD. Now it is a QS in the SD but this will still serve me well when I age my QS1 a bit more and then attempt to combine the two accounts into the fee-free QS.

Wow!  That was fast!  They have already changed all my information on the Cap1 website. I hadn't loggged off when I typed up the first message and when I closed the tab after typing the above it was already there. If only my CLIs were responded to as quickly...
