I got my new card yesterday. While it says it's a Quicksilver, it is really a Platinum with Quicksilver benefits or as I call it, a Quicksilver Lite (it says Platinum on the back and I was sent the Platinum information). That makes perfect sense to me since I've only had the Platinum for about 5 months. It's one of the new Contactless Chip cards. Eventually, maybe I can turn this in to a true Quicksilver (cue "I've Got No Strings" from Pinocchio).
Still, I like having the 1.5% Rewards (yes, I still am on the first year with Discover) and the contactless chip card is nice as well, so it was well worth the time to upgrade.
Thank you MyLoFico for bringing the site to our attention!
You have a Quicksilver One. The Benefits of a QS on a Platinum. Hence, the AF. When you get to a Quicksilver you won't have the AF. Then you will be free of that Platinum. That is what I just did. Got my new cards too. They look pretty slick.
Edit: You are most welcome. I am glad many of you have been able to upgrade.
Actually, there's no AF, nor was there one on my original Platinum. I've heard that a lot of people have that with Platinum and of course that's the case with Quicksilver One, but it doesn't apply to me.

@MyLoFICO wrote:So I chatted up Cap One on my moms behalf to see if there was an upgrade option to her QS1 to QS. The rep said no and told me I could check any time for offers. I asked how and he said just click the link "Upgrade Now" once you login. I do not have this link so he sent me the url. I used it on my moms account and it shows she is eligible for the QS1. I used it on mine and it shows no upgrades. I have never seen this option on my login page so I don't know if this is common knowledge or not. But, either way, here ya go. I hope it helps someone.

Edit: Oh my! 19 Kudos. I think that is the most ever for one of my posts. Super happy this is helping you all to get better cards!
I love you. Seriously, I do. Might be a little weird if you're a dude, but I'm standing by it.
I just tried the link and it upgraded my platinum to a QS1! Maybe not the best possible result, but I'm pretty darn happy about it! The platinum has no rewards (at least mine didn't), but the QS1 upgrade gives me 1.5% cash back! Plus, it's probably just generally better for my profile to have the QS1 vs the platinum.
Thank you!
lol. I'm a dude for sure but I understand. Try that link every month when you pay your bill until you get the QS. I bet it hits about 6 months from now if my theory is correct.
@Anonymous wrote:How often does Cap one give Auto increases on these cards or how often should I be requesting one?
Hey Songburd! You can request a CLI every 6 months with Cap1. This auto-CLI was a surprise at 5 months since my last one.![]()
Thanks for the link - I upgraded my Plat to QS
Just got the new QS card yesterday already - I may actualy use the card now
@Imhotrodcrazy wrote:Thanks for the link. I just changed my Venture to the QS. The link had all of my info and it only took me about 30 seconds and it was done. By the time I went back to my account on line I already had a pic of the QS card on it. I dreaded calling and getting the overseas rep, you know how that is. Again, thanks for helping us all. That was a great find.
+1
AF due next month.
Thanks for the link! I was looking for that all over the site and was about to call to inquire about a PC.
Just got my 6-month statement on the Platinum and upgraded to the full QS! Thanks OP!

This is a great link! But having said that, it looks like some folks might be confusing the type of Mastercard or Visa they have with the rewards structure from Capital One.
From my experience, Capital One offers:
Visa Platinum
Visa Signature
Platinum Mastercard
World Mastercard (WMC)
World Elite Mastercard (WEMC)
The terms and rewards that go along with these cards can be none, QuickSilver One, QuickSilver, Venture One, Venture
The basic Platinum Mastercard, branded as just the Platinum card typically has no rewards associated to it. I personally had the QuickSilver One (which was a Platinum Mastercard) and PCd to a QuickSilver (also a Platinum Mastercard) about a year ago.
I used the OPs link and it looked like the upgrade on offer was the exact same card -- QuickSilver to QuickSilver. I expected it to stay at Platinum, but I upgraded it nonetheles. Yesterday I received the email that my new card has shipped. For grins, I went into the Benefits section of my account and it now shows this account is a World Mastercard! Wow. I really didn't expect this.
Now when I click the link, it is giving me the option to upgrade my Venture One to another Venture One. This account is a Visa Platinum (see screenshot). I'm going to accept the upgrade and who knows, maybe it will be the Visa Signature?
So, if any of you are wondering what type of Visa or Mastercard you have, you can log into your account via browser, go into the Benefits drop down section in the top middle, and click on Card Benefits. There it will tell you the type of Visa or Mastercard you have. Great link to share, OP!
Good info, Peking!
Based on your post, I went ahead and clicked to upgrade my Quicksilver (Platinum) to Quicksilver (hopefully WMC). Well see what happens!
Interestingly, now when I hit the link for upgrade offers I see an offer to upgrade this card to the Venture One, which before was listed as other options, twice. Maybe one option was Platinum and one was WMC? That might explain why there is only one Venture One option now, provided my upgrade does end up being the WMC.
Will post results as soon as I know. ☺
This link is amazing!!!!!
BTW, I was able to switch both of my cards with the link. I waited a day for the first product change to go through before it would let me switch the second card.
Gave it a shot. I have the upgraded QS from Plat. And just got the newest QS card and it says Plat on the back. Maybe the Plat will be removed and replaced with something else. Like the poster above. We'll see.
