Logged back out and checked the link again and it came up with an offer for my second card.

My second card I've had for 10+ years. It's a Plantinum with a $29 annual fee and $1,000 limit. They are giving me two offers. Either a QuickSilver One with a $29 fee or a Venure One with no fee.

I assume I should switch this to the Venture?

The card you choose depends on what you want to accomplish.

The VentureOne offers 1.25% that can only be redeemed for travel, but it has no fee. The QuicksilverOne offers 1.5% with the $29 fee, and it's hard to product-change into a no-fee Quicksilver.

From a purely financial standpoint, the break-even point between the two cards is at about $4,750 in a year. Spend more than that, and your rewards will be higher from with the QuicksilverOne.

The missing link is data on how easy or hard it might be to product-change a VentureOne down the road. The conventional wisdom is that with CapOne, losing the fee is difficult. It's possible that in the future, you might see a Quicksilver offer from the VentureOne, but honestly, I can't recall reading about anyone here getting that offer.

I have 2 Cap 1 cards.

My first was a Plantinum card that I've had for 14 years with a $5,000 limit and $59 annual fee. I checked the link and was offered either a QS with no fee, QS1 with no fee or Venture with No Fee. I took the QuickSilver

That's a 100% correct assumption in my opinion.  AS another poster has noted getting C1 to drop an AF is a complete PITA, so if you've got a way to do so, DO IT!!

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

Well ... to put a bow on this for me ... I received my "upgraded" QS1 card today ... and it's the same card number, same benefits, etc, as my old one ... so for me, it was only updating to the new cards.

Oddly ... despite having the correct address on my profile, and receiving my QS at the correct address the other day, Cap 1 sent the QS1 to my old address, and then it was forwarded on to me. Very odd ...

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

Yay!  I've tried multiple times to upgrade my QS1 to a QS to dump the $39 annual fee, and they always denied me, but that link popped it up for me, and I'm now upgraded!  Thanks to the OP for posting this!

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

Has anyone gotten the upgrades to show up for more than one cap1 card?Mine only shoes upgrades for my newer card, not my older QS1 card.

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

As my new QS card says platinum on the back... I'm guessing I'm still in the deplorable category... and it will never grow like a real QS...

That's my problem. I can only get it to show the card that doesn't need an upgrade.

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

Oh my god, awesome! I just tried it for giggles thinking since I got a CLI a few months back that I'd be 6 month ruled and have to wait, but nope! My Platinum (my second credit card since my rebuild started in 2015) just upgraded to QS1. Noice. I already had a QS1, so it would be nice if I could make that a QS eventually and combine the two.

Thanks for posting the link! I went from a cap 1 Platinum card with a $39 yearly fee to a QS with no fees. Smiley Very Happy
