Here's some data.

I originally applied for Platinum Mastercard last year and got PC'd to QS (no AF) about 2 or 3 weeks later (and got a new Quiksilver card in the mail). However, this entire time in my account, the card always appeared as "Platinum Mastercard' and I never saw the words "Quiksilver" anywhere, yet I had the 1.5% cash back. Many of you probably had the same experience

Well fast foward to today, I clicked on the upgrade and of course I had an offer to upgrade my QS to a *drum roll* QS....So I'm thinking I already have the pseudo-QS upgrade, what's the point? So I decided to just click upgrade (APR, No AF, 1.5% CB, Card number all stayed the same).

And now....after I log-in, my account actually comes up as a Quiksilver Account. I know it's nothing major, but it defintely feels better now seeing the official Quiksilver rather than the "Platinum MC" that's been showing up since I first opened the account.

FWIW ... mine shows as a "QuickSilver" as well, but if you click on Benefits and then Card Benefits, it'll either show the card as a Platinum or as something else.

That's what defines a card as either a Plat or something else.

Oops. Sorry I didn't read far enough before posting.

Yours had a visual aide! Even better

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

Thank you! I was able to upgrade my QuicksilverOne to a regular Quicksilver. I also sent the link to two family members who opened accounts 1 year ago and 3 months ago under the credit steps program and were able to upgrade from the Platinum to Quicksilver as well.

American Express Blue Cash $30,000 | Capital One Quicksilver $16,500 | Chase Sapphire $8,000 | SunTrust Platinum Rewards $6,000 | Best Buy $9,400 | Home Depot $6,000

As far as MasterCard is concerned, it's still a Platinum MasterCard. From Capital One's standpoint, it's been a Quicksilver ever since you started earning rewards. What appears on your account page could be either the MasterCard/Visa branding or the Capital One branding. My cards switched to displaying MasterCard/Visa branding when I decided I wanted each card to be a different color.

That's not actually 100% correct. You need to look at the card rewards (Login > Beneftits> Card Benefits) structure to see how it shows up. If it says Platinum then you are correct. However, if it upgraded to World Mastercard rewards it is no longer considered a "platinum" rebuilder card.

Actually, none of my cards upgraded. All I did was change their colors so I wouldn't have three cards that looked nearly identical. Smiley Happy

One was already a World MasterCard / Quicksilver. One's a Visa Platinum / QuicksilverOne. And the other is a Platinum MasterCard / QuicksilverOne. Everything stayed the same except that the word Quicksilver is now nowhere to be found in my account. When the names changed, I called to make sure there were no surprises.

When I check the benefits as mentioned above, I see that the Platinum MasterCard offers a little more than the Visa Platinum… not that I anticipate using any of them except possibly for the car rental benefits that just about every card has.

Ugh...

So here's what shows up on my account

Does this mean they only see me as a Platinum member?

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

Upgraded my VentureOne (it was my first credit card--didn't know better) to the QS. I realize I much prefer cash back to points, so I'm pretty excited. I had stopped using the card before. Thanks OP!

This is the error I've been getting since the first day this thread was started. Anyone else?

Thanks for the link! 😃

I was able to upgrade from Platinum to Quicksilver using it. I really like that I'm getting cash back rewards now. Very happy!!

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

When I tried to upgrade my mother's card I received a similar error but it just said "This feature is unavailable, try again later." I switched growers and when I went back in it worked but not sure what prompted it.

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

My DW card showed up. It was a QS1 upgraded to the same card, QS1. Card is simply the new design, and i don't see the new wireless chip in it... like my upgraded one has.

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

After my 1 year anniversary, Cap 1 "upgraded" me to the wemc qs, no account from my qs1.  I haven't had an increase in so long I forgot what they look like.  I asked for an apr reduction and heard crickets on the other end of the line lol  My offer is the same as others mentioned qs to qs. *scratching head*   If I were to apply for a new card right now, I would get a 13% apr according to the prequal (and a MUCH higher limit).  If it were a single pull, I wouldn't hesitate.  A triple pull is just excessive.  Since it was my first card, it will just keep the dust bunnies company in my sd.   I do want a travel card so at some point I "might" apply for the Venture but I really prefer Chase SP.

Cap 1 is really awesome for helping build credit but I will never understand why they don't offer more incentive to keep these people rather than let them go elsewhere once credit is established.
