Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

It still works! Got upgraded tonight from Platinum to QS (no AF). I've had the card only since mid-Feb, with my credit steps CLI showing up on the last statement. My first card in a very long time, so I was grateful to get it. Even happier now.

MANY thanks to the founder of the thread for the link!

Any idea why I might get nothing when I go to the link? 9 year history with CO on my Platinum MC, $10.5k CL with 22% util, perfect payment history. Any idea what factors go into who gets the upgrade offer?

How about calling and asking?

Sometimes calling and asking is super stressful. Knowing the lay of the land first takes away stress. Not speaking for the OP, of course. Definitely speaking for me.

I did call and ask. The rep was not at all helpful. Said there were no upgrades available but had no idea why. Said her system wasn't working to even request/escalate it. Mystifying considering the account is in good standing and I've had no trouble at all. I use the card all the time and there's a ton of available credit, etc. I'm just not sure why I can't get anything when I go to that link.

They won't ever be able to tell you. I have called so many times and gotten the same answer to that question that I am convinced it is all left up to some fancy algorithm as to whether or not you get an upgrade. I had one useful guy give me the link in the original post and I don't think he was supposed to do that. I hate Crapital One and I hope this link get's rid of enough AF's to actually impact their bottom line. I know it probably won't but I can dream.

That's so frustrating. I've been a cardholder so long with them. And they just bumped my CL to $13.5k, so it's obviously not an issue with payment history or anything. As soon as I can get a better card I won't be using my CO anymore.

Out of curiosity has this card always been Platinum, or did it start life as something else (like secured) and get changed over?

Mine has a $4900 CL only after I merged 2 Platinums and converted to a QS. I was making 3-4 $4k payments a month and they won't give me a CLI. Monthly payments aren't high enough. Because I didn't carry a balance. They could see I needed more credit, just not big enough payments. I hate Crapital One.

As far as I know it's always been the same. I never asked for or tried to change it. Always unsecured. The card doesn't say Platinum but it's a custom card image. My account on CO is labeled Platinum.

Re: Capital One check for upgrade link

Link success today for the hubbby and I both.  We both got our Platinum cards on 5/15/17 and tried to PC after the statement cut this month, but no luck.  I have tried it each week since and today we both got offered the quicksilver with no fee.  Two weeks ago we got CLI's and some time in November our steps increase should appear.  Moving along on the right track. Thanks for all the great advice on this thread/board.

I'm glad so many folks have had luck with this link.
