I know this post is very old but I wanted to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH to MyLoFico!! This thread is why I finally signed up to myfico. I've been reading here a long while, following the sage advice but after this tip, I had to join to thank you..
I was able to PC my Plat Cap One to a QuickSilver and never even realized I had that option..
Fantabulous link! Thanks a million..

@Cholloway I would go online and click the CLI button it is a SP and will not affect your score, the most they can say is no. I am rebuilding and opened my Cap1 Plat card in November, I put through $900+ through the 1st two cycles (2nd cycle closes on the 18th) and PIF. I requested a CLI 2.5 weeks ago and was approved for $100 increase to $400.

I just got an offer to upgrade to a Venture from a Quicksilver. I'm tempted to take it since the QS started out as an HSBC card with a $300 limit, I turned into a platinum, then a QS one, now it's a Quicksilver but its still called a Platinum Mastercard on my statement so I'm hoping to finally get the card to be a full-blown Venture. The only thing keeping me from taking the plunge is I won't bother unless it's the metal card. Anyone know if it will be metal or the regular plastic card?
Just note that doing a PC to Venture means you don't get the huge sign-up bonus.
I know, I'm trying to get under 5/24 so I can get a good Chase card. if it's not metal and I can't get it with a PC I'm just going to skip it.

It's a full-fledged Quicksilver that's being identified in your account with MasterCard's branding. Capital One uses a mix of their own branding (Quicksilver, etc.) and Visa/MasterCard branding to identify your cards.
Confusion arises because Visa, MasterCard, and Capital One all have products called Platinum. You could have a Capital One Platinum that's also a Platinum Mastercard. Or you could have a Quicksilver that's a Platinum MasterCard. Or your Quicksilver could be a World or World Elite MasterCard. Or a Visa Platinum or Visa Signature.
I have three Quicksilvers. One is a Platinum MasterCard, one is a Visa Platinum, and the other is a World MasterCard. The Visa/MC Platinum products are identified in my account as Quickslivers. The last card is identified as a World MasterCard.
I got an increase of $100 on my upgraded platinum to Quicksilver. Then for the heck of it I applied for another card and was approved for another $300. My auto increase will take place in April per Capital one still as they promised me before

I'm in the exact same boat and would like to know the same. Although, a metal card is not necessarily a deal breaker. I would just like it to be converted to a World mastercard since my limit is about $5k.
