Re: Capital One sock drawer

Venture One is the most likely but there are DP showing the fairly rare upgrade from old cards no longer taking applicants to regularQS and QS1 to QS.  Some have had to go to V1 and then from V1 to QS.

I've been trying to get my Capital One Mastercard card out of the sock drawer for several years now. It was my first card using credit steps and then eventually upgraded to quicksilver. I've been trying to get the savor one card, but it's never available to upgrade to. I ended up ungrading to Venture One over a year ago despite not traveling much in hopes that I could upgrade to savor one from that, but no such luck. Any idea how I can upgrade to a Savor One?

I've had a Capital One credit card for 20 years or so, and it is not and never was a "bucketed" credit card: its credit limit was eventually automatically increased to $10,500 before I told Capital One that I did not want any more automatic credit limit increases, then (over time) I decreased its credit limit to $500.

After the Savor One card was introduced, I have occasionally asked to have my card switched/upgraded to a Savor One, and my request has always been denied. I have excellent credit and 20 years or so with an "unbucketed" credit card with Capital One.

If you want a Savor One card, I think you will have to apply for it. It seems unlikely that Capital One will ever allow a product change to Savor One.

Credit Scores: (FICO 8) 850 Experian May 2025, 847 TransUnion May 2025
Credit Cards (newest to oldest): NFCU Visa Platinum $25,000 | BECU Cash Back Visa $10,000 | American Express BCE $9000 | Simmons Bank Visa $7500 | Capital One Quicksilver Visa Platinum (PC/upgrade from No Hassle Miles Rewards Visa Platinum) $1800

Re: Capital One sock drawer

Nobody can convert any Cap1 cards to a Savor or SavorOne.  If you want one you have to apply for it.

They didn't even let me downgrade my Savor to a SavorOne when the annual fee came up.  I had to cancel it.  I just now got a SavorOne a couple years later.

Re: Capital One sock drawer

It really is unfortunate that CapOne won't allow a PC to the Savor line. They really are missing out on a lot of potential use as a lot of people grow out of the QS line.

Re: Capital One sock drawer

The only reason I have 2 QS cards is because I am holding out hope that maybe one day they will either let me convert one to a SavorOne card and/or let me combine accounts again. The 2nd card has 0% interest until Dec. so it won't be closed until then at least but it feels "weird" to me to have two of the same 1.5% CB card when I also have two general 2% CB cards. I don't need the Cap1 cards but at the same time who knows what Cap1 will do in the future.

I haven't heard of anyone recently being offered that upgrade option.  I recently upgraded a Quicksilver one to Quicksilver with only other option the Venture.  Also upgraded Platinum and Quicksilver was only option.  You are probably going to have to apply for the Savor if it's really what you want.

You could also call Capital One and I'm sure they'd let you know if it'll ever be an option for you.

Was it a HP to upgrade your quicksilver?

Re: Capital One sock drawer

If Cap1 lets you product change it won't be a hard pull.

Just go to your Cap1 online account, select your card and then in the address bar add /productupgrade and hit enter.

If you are elegible they will show you your options.

Confirming this. I used the link to upgrade my Platinum to a Quicksilver late last year, and I don't think there was even a soft pull (since I have an account, they do account review soft pulls every couple months, and they probably just used the last one).

I've been spamming the upgrade link on a QS1 for the last month or two prior to this week when I opened up a SavorOne.  Does opening the new account have any negative impact on the potential for upgrading the other card?  I've been putting a signficant spend through the QS1 (anywhere from $1700-$2400/mo for 7 months) but it's going to drop down significantly with the SavorOne getting my grocery and streaming spend right away and my dining spend shortly after.

There are a couple of reports of people upgrading the QS1 to a card with no annual fee, but it seems to be incredibly rare. You're probably stuck.
