Care Credit Upgrade question

I have had Care Credit for several years now..... and today received a letter ( and new card )..... which states:

..... Congratulations   You've been selected for an upgrade to the Care Creit Reards Mastercard...... and a date to activate the card by.

I see this is a new account number as compared to my prior card (which was not a Mastercard).... will this be considered a new account & the prior account closed?  Or will it appear as a new card number, with the same age as the prior account?  and..... if I activate it will they do a hard pull?    Does anyone know?

Though I like the fact of it being changed to a Mastercard.....  I really did not want to add any new cards, or apply for anything new at this point..... I'm in the garden, and want everything to age..... any info will be greatly appreciated

Re: Care Credit Upgrade question

It's going to be completely new account, or at least that's how all previous upgrades have been handled for Care Credit.

I'm not aware of any changes to that policy

Re: Care Credit Upgrade question

@FishingGuy,

As @Remedios mentioned upthread, it will be replaced by a new account number, the MasterCard. Though, as of last year, SYNCB has changed their upgrade policies. Meaning, they no longer will report the upgraded card as a new tradeline. So, if you accept the offer, the history of your previous non-MC card will be carried over. There is also no HP in connection with the upgrade. As has been echoed by @UncleB + others who have the CareCredit MC, there are typically more reward/bonus incentives with it than the plain CareCredit credit card.

Oh I was wrong about something.

I feel like I've lost myself and I don't like this new person

It's that bakery transformation isn't it? 😂

You were right though, it will be a new account number. Reporting-wise, no more new tradeline shenanigans (thankfully). I'm still hopeful for a JCP MC upgrade while @UncleB waits for a Belk MC upgrade Smiley Wink

Re: Care Credit Upgrade question

Thank you everyone,   I obviously don't mind the new account number, and welcome the MC rewards upgrade....  I just didn't want a new trade-line lowering my Average age of accounts....   I have two cards that are only 8 months old...... and am waiting for them to age before applying for a JetBlue card and understand Barclays is very new account sensitive.

Totally understandable @FishingGuy.
