It seemed like Chase was giving everyone a CLI on the Amazong Prime card a few months ago. Now I am not hearing anything about them.
I opened my Chase Amazon Prime card on 6/9/2020 when i was just starting into the points game. It was only my second credit card in 25 years (had been an all cash guy living with a debit card the whole time). They gave me a small $700 SL. I made 2 requests in the first year and both were declined so I gave up. As I grew my card portfolio I sort of gave up hope on the Chase Prime card. Then everyone started to post about CLIs and I was surprised on 11/19/2021 to see my limit jump from $700 to $6,500.
I am wondering if it is worth requesting another CLI now or have they tightened up again? My profile is far stronger now. FICO scores are 831 / 848 / 786 I always pay all cards in full daily (OCD behavior of mine LOL). I spend around $4,000 - $5,000 a month on the Chase Amazon card each month now, would spend more if the limit was higher. Sometimes we are placing large orders and the card limit is too low so I use my AMEX or X1 card. Would love to get the 5% on everything. I currently have 4 inquiries on EQ, zero on TU, and 2 on EX in the last 12 months.
I dont want to waste a HP if the chances are low for a CLI, but it sure would be nice to get the limit increased. My other cards are NPSL Gold and Plat AMEX. Pen Fed PCR with $25,000 limit. X1 with $40,000 limit. USAA card with $4,500 limit. DCU with $20,000 limit. AND Capital One with $500 limit LOL
Is it worth the HP or should I just sit and wait to see if I get another auto CLI sometime in the future?
PS I only use this card on Amazon and gas charges (not sure if this hurts me in their eyes)
Hi @bilwilvegas ,
My take is, ..if you are using the card a lot, and you could benefit from a higher credit limit, it might be worth sacrificing a HP (or two)
Here is a Chase Amazon Visa CLI from pre-pandemic .. I cannot guarantee this will work for you?
I had a lot of inquiries and new accounts, also much lower scores than you!
I am sorry the screenshots in the CLI Approval are gone. Possibly some DP's in it ??

Hope it can help you.

With the kind of spend you're putting on it, the chances are decent that you'll get an auto CLI. Since you're averse to HP's you should probably wait a while before applying.
Not sure how it is now but a few years ago, using close to the limit and paying it off i was able to finally get the card to auto-cli..
I didnt even get the CLI on opening some folks got when they opened the card and the limit was higher than they were told they were initially approved for..
