And also I can’t pay right now. Chase is closed and I never set up my checking account. So it would have to be cash tomorrow morning.

I'm not understanding this. You don't have an open checking account with money in it so you can pay the balance online?

I find it hard to believe you carry a couple thousand dollars around everywhere.

Re: Chase Blocked My Sapphire Preferred, Help

You can make a payment to your credit card from a saving account. You should just be able to do a transfer once logged into chase. Savings to credit card.

But even if you can’t do a transfer. You can still do bill pay through the chase portal or over the automated system. You just need the routing and account numbers.

Note: you are only allowed 6 transfers per cycle on savings account without incurring a penalty fee.

I would pay the card down as much as you can, as quickly as you can to prove it was you and that you have every intention to pay the account.

I interpreted the OP's response as they have no other checking accounts other than a Chase one.

All of the Chase branches here have ATM vestibules where you can push cash in the ATM and it's available immediately, or a drive through, but ATM vestibules are easier for large wads of cash. I'm sure the OP has the same technology where they live as they do here.

If the OP doesn't have a Chase branch near them, the next step is using Zelle, which transfers money instantly from certain banks to Chase.

If not, the next step is they write themselves a check and deposit it with their smartphone, which typically the funds are available the next business day.

Re: Chase Blocked My Sapphire Preferred, Help

I wasn’t sure what to make of the response.

He mentioned chase was closed, so unless he planned on going into chase to pay the card. I was making a guess he might have checking/savings products through chase.

Which is what led to the second part. If he doesn’t have any chase banking products and doesn’t have an open active checking account. Maybe they had a savings account, which the bill can be paid out of.

And to add to it.
Just because an credit card doesn’t have a linked payment account setup. You are able to go to chase.com on any computer( not mobile device) and setup a payment account online. You just need the numbers.

Never had a Restricted chase credit card. So maybe you aren’t able to make a payment or add a new payment account if the card has been restricted ?

Re: Chase Blocked My Sapphire Preferred, Help

My chase account only has a sub $100 balance in it. My boss gave me a check and I deposited it to my other bank but the funds will not show up till tomorrow.

I’ve never set up the online account with chase yet. I had some issues with it and chalked it up to fix it when I’m ready to pay. I tried setting it up and I’m getting the same issue, I don’t want to call chase anymore.

I primarily bank with another bank as well. The best case scenario is making a payment at 9am when the branch opens.

Would it be smart to talk with Someone and telling them I’m paying my balance tomorrow morning?

this is more about action than talk.  if you have the $ in another checking account and the portal has issues call the # on the back of the card, give them the router and # and have them pull the $ out.  now.  it comes down to how bad you want to keep that nice metal like card

Re: Chase Blocked My Sapphire Preferred, Help

My advice would be to pay the Chase credit card with the funds from your current (non-Chase) checking account tomorrow.  I don't think it would be wise to walk into a Chase branch and count out $100 bills in front of a teller.  That, too, looks suspicious.

Daily Carry: PenFed Power Cash • NFCU Flagship • NFCU More Rewards • Chase Freedom
Sock Drawer: PenFed Promise • NFCU cashRewards • Chase Sapphire Preferred • Chase Freedom Unlimited • United Explorer • UNFCU Azure

I had this happen with not one but 2 people I stacked up with chase cards last year.  both the same senerio.  I now know that women and men spending patterns can differ lol.  they both had the same lineup; csp/fu approved one month, 3 cuts and then an cip/freedom next with a biz checking.  both women made the spends on the csp and inks in <1 month.  both totally shut down.  one had a pay account with funds ready to go from city national, the other I added a first republic account to and paid everything off on the spot.  waited 10 days, called the # and everything was fully activated for both women.  I am a big believer in taking action as asap and taking risk out of the equasion but options will vary.  that aside there is zero reason not to pay this off right now

Re: Chase Blocked My Sapphire Preferred, Help

Just called chase they won’t even give me a balance so I can pay it off. Just said to wait 24-48 hours.

this seems like the twilight zone.  pay more than what you think you owe, who cares.  are you saying they would not take a payment from you and you cannot pay from the portal by adding an external checking account?  call them, say you want to make a $3K payment, route and account # and be done with it.  forget stories.
