You are so right... I would give them a call tomorrow and request them to keep my limit intact; otherwise I may try to relocate the whole CL to my other chase card except $500 which I would need to leave it on it...Would see if it would work...I dont wanna do this as much as possible, but I might try it if no option is left out....
They never gave me any CLI since this account was opened almost 7-8 yrs ago despite of good spending at that time...and now decided to do CLD !!!... Thats how they are appreciating me for being such a good customer for all these years...I understand that its all about the business and its because of me not using the card lately in last 2 yrs but decreasing my credit limit from $25k to $2k is not fair and not right at all....

All kidding aside, they cut you by almost 90 pct, ridiculous. I hope you get some action maybe from a supervisor, I can ubderstand a possible cld if you dont use the card much with a 25k cl but a 90 pct cut is punitive.
AARRRRGGGGHHH, THOSE CLD'S ARE MORE PAINFUL THAN MY BUNIONS.
@Janneman wrote:I have two Chase cards for the last 7-8 years, and I never requested CLI on them nor I was automatically offered. For the last 2-3 weeks I have seen too many people having received CLI as SP from Chase...and many of those people were way over 5/24 and with a little spend...which made me to try for myself too. So, 4-5 days ago I requested CLI on my Freedom Unlimited card wherein I have CL of $25k but the first representative I spoke with was not friendly, instead provided me many info incorrect. So, I corrected her before hanging up the call with her, which she didn't like that I corrected her, to which she referred that I lectured her.
Then I called back right away and spoke with another representative who seemed nice and knowledgeable. I submitted my request for CLI with him but I was denied instantly by the system. I was told that I would receive the letter which I still have not received...not thru mail nor on my online account. However, an hour ago I received an online notice which states that since I am not using this card enough then Chase has decided to decrease my CL from $25k to $2k after 45 days later...and if I would like to prevent them from decreasing my CL then I should give them a call.
I admit that I have not been using this card enough for the last 4 years...I have been using like $10-$20 in every 4-5 months...So, I completely understand their such action, however, timing is very questionable. I am sure a few of you might not agree with me but I strongly believe that the first rep has something to do with it; otherwise why I didnt get the same letter for my other card-Sapphire wherein I have CL of $39k and I haven't used that one as well for many years except a few bucks here and there in every 4-5 months, unless the letter for that account is on its way as well....I have never seen anybody gets CLD upon asking CLI...Lesson learned that we should be very polite and nice with these folks; otherwise they could mess you up a big time.
Moving forward, I am very much upset now and would like to get my original CL back...Do you guys know what I should do within a few days in order to prevent them from decreasing my CL? I think a year back or so I read someone receiving the similar letter from Capital one but I didnt follow up with that thread....I would appreciate if you guys provide me some insight on my options especially when time is the essence. Thank you.
The customer rep may have flagged your account as abusive customer... or what ever else she maybe thought of ...Chase is now throwing out emails saying CLI is approved .. waiting for my acceptance ,, Chase willing to turn part Credit Card limit into part revolving loan at half of Credit card interest.. They are aggressive for more business ..money is flowing ..I got flagged by a dumb Amex rep.. every time I called customer service a rep would answer see account , then transfer to someone else...Best to zip it , then complain to higher ups about a rep' behavior
Update:
I just called Chase (the telephone number in the back of my Freedom Unlimited card) and spoke with the representative. Call went to their call center in India. The guy was very nice. I explained to him that I received this later a few days ago about reducing my CL and I would like to keep my CL intact...He checked my account and confirmed about going out that letter, and said that he would note on the account and my account would have the same limit from now on...That's it.
Lesson learned: (1) We need to start using all these cards/accounts if we do want to keep them; otherwise we should not be surprised if an account sees CLD or closed down; (2) We should try to be super nice with these representatives because we don't know when some of them could put our accounts thru a big mess....
I would like to thank everyone who contributed on this thread especially the one who posted the reference of other thread from last month on this very subject which made me aware of the fact that I wasn't alone in this situation and I also knew then how to tackle this situation. See, this is what makes this site/forum so great....We learn a lot from each other. I am very grateful to this site, and couldn't appreciate more. You guys are great. God bless all of you.....

Very Glad to hear you got this resolved and you were able to take something away from the experience. Although it will differ depending on your card lineup/cash back or rewards structure, I try to have a a simple monthly recurring charge on each of my cards to show regular usage. And of course, some of them are daily drivers, etc. so there's less worry. But for those cards that I expect less usage, they, at least, have the 1-2 monthly recurring charges.
In any case, I'm happy to hear this was resolved 😊
Thank you. As for you having placed your cards for recurring charges then I am sure it works just fine for you and others, but I believe my situation has been different than others (like everyone's situation is different). How? Then I have more than 45 cards and more half million dollars total available credit...So obviously, I need to show love to all of them especially a few of them (business and personal cards) which I obtained last year and in 2021 in order to earn SUB...Further, I have been with Chase for 7-8 years, and I have never seen Chase caring much about usage of accounts...at least in my case....So, I let it sleep Chase accounts...
To be honest to you, I am still not sure what is the real factor/reason I received this notice of CLD....Is it that Chase has decided to send to every customer of Freedom card who have not met certain threshold of spending in 3-6-12 months, or is it triggered by the rep whom I lectured to? I did use the card last time on this January...just two months ago, but only for less than $20...But then I am having the same spending pattern on Sapphire card as well, wherein I have not received such notice so far...thanks God...Thus, don't know what Chase is up to...Time is so bad right now...We don't know what could happen....
