Chase Sapphire - Recon question

I applied yesterday for this card.  I called the recon line today and spoke to a very nice guy. He asked about the balance on my WFCC and LOC, I explained they were due to medical bills from recent surgeries but have been paid down. I have a CC with a $7000 CL, the balance was $6000, is now at $500, the LOC is secured for $9000, it was at $8500 and I have paid it down to $4000. He asked about recent inquiries I explained I had been out car shopping he said ok that was fair. He also asked about my income, employment dates, and what I was looking for. I just said $70000-$85000 depends on how much I make with my extra side job, main employer has been for 7 years, and also that I am just looking to get my foot in the door with Chase. I told him I didn't expect a large CL. He put me on hold for a while, came back and said he noted the balances had been for medical and that I have paid them down. He did say they are not updated on the CB yet, but he said he noted everything that he thought was needed for them to review in the final review area.

Anyone have any experience with this type of situation? My EQ was 729 as of 6/5/11. Just wondering if I have a shot, he said it could take 2 weeks but that they look at those pretty fast.

Think I will get a approved or not?  I did just get a chase sapphire in a roundabout way through my fiance, I'm a AU on that with a nice CL. Those cards are cool as heck too!   Will that even be taken into consideration?

Thanks!

Re: Chase Sapphire - Recon question

I am surprised he did not tell you right away if the recon was sucessful, you may want to call back, most of the threads here with Chase people have been told right away on recon's

Re: Chase Sapphire - Recon question

I just did a recon for the Freedom last Friday. Found out right away - approved - after they asked some questions on my CR and had my verify my identity.

I would call them back.

Re: Chase Sapphire - Recon question

I did call for an update earlier today and she said I should have a decision very soon. I am calling the 888 609 7805 number instead of the other 888 245 0625. Should I maybe call that one instead??

Re: Chase Sapphire - Recon question

Ok so I just called the other number and they said it is in a "pending" status. It has to go through the verification process and then final review. She said no decision was made at this time. I asked if there was anything they needed from me at this time and she said no.

So, now what do you guys think?  I believe there is no decision, just wandering why it is taking so long to go through a recon.....

Re: Chase Sapphire - Recon question

I'm not sure what the requirements for their Sapphire card are, but have a feeling it's higher than their Freedom or Slate.

Based on your scores alone, I don't think you'd qualify. However, I've been known to be wrong (lotsa timesSmiley Very Happy)

Good luck Smiley Happy
