Re: Credit one

When I closed mine I just wrote them a nice letter and sent it snail mail just because I didn’t want to talk to anyone and get frustrated with them refusing to close the account easily.

Re: Credit one

I'm thinking about closing mine but since my credit history is kind of new, it would significantly change the age of my accounts. Significantly. My TU is now 739 and EQ is at 729 and I don't want my scores to go down. I do have a small balance on it, but I'm paying it off next month. My daughter has a card, but I've forbidden her to use it at college and gave her the Discover card instead to use, which she does and thankfully pays off each week.

Re: Credit one

Looking to do the same with 2 Credit One's, a merrick, cap 1 QS, and a first national. Cant bring myself to relinquish the CL though even though the AF's are costing me money.

Re: Credit one

I actually just called today to close my credit one mastercard. They were suprisingly helpful and did not pressure me to do anything. They even credited my credit one visa with all the AF's I ever paid. The card is paid off and I will never use it, but still! I thought it was a nice gesture.

I closed my mastercard because it only had a $500 SL and had only been open for 11 Months so it was hurting my AAoA. My visa is 4 Years old so it is helping my AAoA and has a $1,250 SL. Since they were so nice and I just read a bunch of stories of them waiving AF's all together, I might call back in a month to threaten to close my visa to get free AF's. That way when it sits in my drawer, I know I am not paying a dime on it Smiley Happy

Re: Credit one

I've seen this topic many times on myFICO. Their wisdom says...

1. Call, request card/s be closed.

2. Follow up with a letter. Thank CreditOne for helping your build your credit. Tell them you are confirming in writing that you want the card to be closed, and that you requested it on the phone, provide date you called. There used to be a letter shared by one of the mods or more active members.

Re: Credit one

I had no problem closing mine. I asked for and received confirmation via mail (which is stored away with the card for another year). I logged in several times to make sure no additional charges appeared on the card/it still showed as closed. No weird behavior. Rep was pleasant. I've read some crazy stuff here, seems I lucked out. I constantly get emails letting me know I can reactivate my account.

Desired BK recovery line up complete 7/12/2021. Planning to garden until 8/2023 and potentially try for AMEX.
