If you use a gas station mobile app to unlock the pump, that's an easy way to make sure gas purchases only go on 1 card. You can just add that card to the app.

That's true. I don't use gas station mobile apps though since I use a variety of gas stations while traveling and not a consistent few so it does not work out so well. That's a good idea if you have consistent fueling locations.

Re: Curve Card - Still in Beta...accepting applications via invite

Update on my first Curve purchase at a grocery store. It does indeed show up on my Chase Aeroplan card as 3X on groceries now that the transaction has settled! That's excellent and I will be using my Curve card from now on for those sorts of purchases on my Aeroplan card.

If this actually works correctly, this is exactly what I would need to essentially have a one and done card without giving up rewards. In my mind, it seems too good to be true, though. I'm way too skeptical about how it will work, so I will be looking out for DPs and information about this card as time goes.

Re: Curve Card - Still in Beta...accepting applications via invite

Got my invite to apply today... like TPG I'm going to get Player 2 to use it 😜

Unfortunately we only have 3 MCs (Savor, Elan for Utilities/Recreation, and BofA for Online Shopping), and his Discover card that will be eligible. Honestly 99% of it will be having him use it instead of the actual Savor card for the 1% boost, and he will complain that he doesn't get to show off his pretty metal Savor card. Most of our cards are AmEx and Visa so this won't do a lot of wallet slimming out of the gate.

I could theoretically set the BofA MC to Travel for July, since we'll be taking a cruise... That would override the remaining 1% FTF that that card still has at Plat Honors level, and anything we charge to the "room" would fall under the cruise heading and count as travel.

I think we'll need a lot of DPs regarding the Go Back in Time Feature - under its section in the terms and conditions it states: "Be aware your Linked card issuer may charge a fee for this and may classify the transaction as a balance transfer. We encourage you to check with your Linked card issuer."

Re: Curve Card - Still in Beta...accepting applications via invite

I went to a Rite Aid today and made two small purchases. I did not have a Smart Rule setup for Health or General Spend but only the ones I showed above for Groceries, Eating Out, and Business Services purchases. I selected my Chase Freedom Flex card as the default card for Curve but it seems like the Smart Rules I setup override those defaults. At least that's my present theory as to why those two charges went to Curve Credit instead of the Freedom Flex. I will be contacting support to find out if my theory is correct and will report back. I already contacted support about if there will be a hard pull for future customers, the $500 credit line will report to CRAs, and if it is possible to close the Curve Credit account but still use the Curve system as passthrough only. They said they will be contacting the appropriate people at Curve and will let me know.

UPDATE: I heard back from support. According to support, pharmacy purchases can only be used with Curve Credit right now but they're working on changing this as soon as possible. That's a very strange limitation.

That is really strange. I didn't see a category rule for Gas? Is it hiding or did they really leave such a basic one off?

Couple of things learned from signing up P2: 1) you must use the original email and phone combo that was on the waitlist which received the invite, but you can change them after (had to speak with customer support to do so via chat, but was doable). 2) the smart rules seem very limited. Like no gas? I thought initially that those rules in the screenshot earlier in this thread were just some of what was in each category, but it seems like maybe that's it for what's included in each? 3) after P2 signing up and activating (so far no inquiry he says), he had a button to "share the love" (via text to their cell number from your contact list only) and invite 3 more people, who would then get the additional 1% from being in the beta as well, and apparently he, as the invite code sharer, would get another 1% after they make their first purchase (unclear on if that means up to an additional 3% for 6 months [total of 4%], or just for the first one)... so I will piggyback on his use of my original invite to "jump the waitlist" as it puts it, and get additional bumps. Will see what happens when I pass it along on my end then.

I received the invitation to apply today as well. I went ahead and applied. It sounded like I was going to get an HP but I have not seen any evidence of one so far. I did have Experian locked I remembered after the fact but not the other two. I was approved for a $500 limit at 18.99% which seems ridiculously low but maybe that's typical since they say that under an "anti-embarassment protection" header so if the other card that the transaction is forwarded to is not approved, this credit line will be used.

P2 was approved for $500 at 12.99%. Don't have his exact scores, but they're in the 780s I believe.

Re: Curve Card - Still in Beta...accepting applications via invite

I've outlined all the facts for the EU card, with the clarification of a reddit moderator in the comments.

You can find that here: https://old.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/unar3g/curve_card_misconceptions_factsdps_and_discussi...

US cards are different, and probably more restricted for now.

Re: Curve Card - Still in Beta...accepting applications via invite

When I requested my invite it said I'd be getting an email to confirm my email address, but I never got it.  I have no idea if this is a glitch and/or if I'm even on the list.

I guess time will tell. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
