Is there a minimum time the card needs to be open for before asking for a decrease

The earliest is at 12 months, or when the 0% initial purchase promo runs out, whichever is later.

Re: Discover APR decrease

This thread inspired me to ask for an APR reduction with Discover, too.  Went onto the online chat and was offered a permanent reduction from 20.24% to 16.49%.  Score!

Thanks for posting about your experience!

so it's really possible with discover to have another 0% apr on PURCHASES after your 0% intro apr lapses???

Card was opened in 2012. I'm on a 0% purchases promo,

have a 3% fee 0% BT offer that I put on the card at about the same time,

decided to take another 4.99% BT offer since that will step in front of the 0% BT on payment speed and turn out less than a 3% BT fee,

and so can use the card for 5% bonus categories as well (0% APR on those).

Re: Discover APR decrease

Decided to just give them a call on a whim today and see if they could reduce my APR. Got it down from 19.24% to 16.49%. Also got a 6K CLI too!

Well, I'm proof that if ya ask, sometimes you will receive.

Got the the chat with Discover card to see if I was eligible for a decrease in my APR.  ( I was sitting at 23.24% )  The lady told me I had two offers on my account.  A) 0% for 12 months, then a return to "normal".... or B) A perm reduction to 18.24%, effective within two days.

Of course i chose the perm reduction.... Although i seldom carry a balance on this card, it's nice to know i'm finally below 20%.

Congrats on your APR reduction!Smiley Happy
