EMV Chip Cards

Hi All,

More and more banks are beginning to issue chip cards in the U.S. and I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread to keep up with the latest offerings.  Since I recently did a lot of research to find the best chip card for my overseas travels, I decided to put together my findings below so others can benefit.  Since this is just a compilation of my notes, I'm sure its litered with inaccuracies and gaps so please take a look and suggest any changes or additions.  I’m also game for adding any personal notes about your experiences requesting, receiving, or having to reorder chip cards so any and all feedback is welcome.  I'll update this first post periodically with all the recent information.

Re: EMV Chip Cards

AFAIK, USAA is not offering EMV.  I have asked for it before and was told that they haven't implemented it yet.  Unless this is new in the last couple months.

SDFCU is the best, IMO.

Bank of America gave me the travel rewards card with 0% for 12 months plus 10,000 bonus points.  That was a good deal.

Amex ED $19.5k - BoA Travel Rewards $15k - CSP $5k - SDFCU EMV $15k - NFCU goRewards $20k - Barclays Arrival $6.5k

USAA started offering the world mc with emv chip/pin a few months ago. I have one. It works. While USAA charges a 1% foreign transaction fee, this is a small price to pay for those limited situations when you really need chip/pin. Since those transactions tend to be small (train ticket at unattended kiosk off hours or in smaller town, for example), the 1% is not an issue for me.

In wallet: Ink Plus 10k, AMEX TE 25k. In bag: CSP 16k, USAA WMC 15k, Hyatt 13k, United MPE 12k, AMEX HHonors 3k. In SD: Cap 1 QS 5k, Discover IT 7k. FICO 08 says my EQ is now 844, was 510 in 2010.

Re: EMV Chip Cards

SDFCU: EMV for everything.

Didn't take a look at the spreadsheet, but there's not much sense maintaining a seperate list if theirs is robust and publicly available.  Long as we give credit/reference to where it's from, can't see anyone taking exception to our linking to it.
