Re: Finally Bit the Bullet and Applied...Chase Freedom and Discover It

Ok folks, I called and talked to Discover, my starting limit is, are you ready...... $7,000 !! LOL I couldn't believe it. Now get this, I called and spoke with Chase and my starting limit is $500 ....lol I wonder why there is such a big difference? My current highest credit line is $500 on BOA, so I guess they just matched that. Anyway I'm psyched to no end.  Just thought you all would like to know my starting limits.

Yah, they pulled experian. I know on my experian report there is a small medical collection, and that's probably why I got such a small limit. Discover pulled TU and it's clean. But I'm sure when chase gets ready to evaluate my account for an increase they'll see what discover gave me and might opt to increase it quite a bit. Hopefully anyway.

Congrats on the wins!!

Can you call Chase and "recon" the limit?  I have heard they are great to work with in such things.

I sent a secure message via chase's website and they increased my limit to 2500 from 500.

Was this immediately after approval or did you wait until you received the card? Also how did you address the situation? If you don't mind sharing your secrets Smiley Happy

Within 5 minutes of being approved I sent this "I was just approved for this card, I appreciate the opportunity to use this and utilize all of its features as they are awesome. However I would like to request a higher starting credit limit." they came back with request of income, and my DOB. Logged in just now and my limit is 2,500

I don't know my account number, how do I send a secure message? I don't have any accounts with them currently except for the one I was just approved for.

Re: Finally Bit the Bullet and Applied...Chase Freedom and Discover It

I finally reached someone by telephone and he asked me a few questions about income etc. and then said that the decision on his end was showing as pending. So he tried to transfer me to the lending department and they were already gone for the day. So he told me to call back tomorrow and check in with the lending department to see if they can overturn the pending status. I asked for $2,500, so wish me good luck. Smiley Happy
