No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Aside from if you feel their request is appropriate or not, anyone that I would be willing to make an AU on any of my cards would be someone I would feel comfortable asking for that info (DL/SS) if I wanted them to remain as an AU. AUs were never intended to be friends or acquaintances; AUs are more commonly spouses, children, parents, etc.
It might not be you that is the issue, it might be one of your AU's. Example; Bob ask friend A and friend B if he can be an AU on their accounts. Friend A or B may not be aware of what Bob is doing but the bank sure is. Banks are trying to crack down on "tradeline selling" and searching for people who are AU on different people's account is one of the ways.
Also me personally if someone is comfortable enough to ask me to help them out by making them an AU on my accounts, you better believe I am comfortable enough asking them for info like DL and SS# to stay in good standing with a bank. I did them a favor, I expect if necessary they will reciprocate. I am trusting them I would hope for the same trust in return.

From the sound of it, very high probability![]()

Exactly. AU accounts were created so that stay at home wives could build their own credit.

It sounds like they're just asking for info they should have had from the start. When I added my roommates, they asked for the social up front.

+1 to that. My college age daughter is on ONE of my credit cards with a fairly low CL so that when I am traveling she has access to this in an emergency where she might not be able to reach me right away and might need something, but she got the lecture on "I will know if you use this; this is how credit cards work; you either use this in an emergency or you ask me first, or I will tell you when it's OK to use it, etc".
I did this because I can see a scenario where her having access to this CL is a useful tool (we bust a water pipe at home or something like that while I'm away, I'm in the hospital sick and she needs groceries), but I also know her SSN since I was the one who asked for it to be issued by the government in the first place.
I wouldn't be handing out access to my personal CL to someone who isn't very high on the mutual trust list- it seems to me giving me a SSN to give to a bank as an identifier for them isn't actually unreasonable if I am literally handing you access to a potential debt I am 100% and you are 0% responsible for- and the AU would have to give this information to the bank anyway if this was THEIR CL.
@Gmood1 may I be nosey? Why did you stop, drop, and roll a lender(s)...?
If you want them to stay on, and they all want to, see if you can get them all to provide that information by themselves directly with cap one. Then you have to check with cap one to ensure they all provided that info.
If you find that one or two of them don't want to do it, they could be suspect of doing something that they shouldn't have, but you can't prove it, or maybe they just don't want to.
If they all do it, your good.
Don't take it personally. There is usually a reason for it but if it's a random check, you should be fine. If there's an issue, then you really don't want shady people attached to your accounts.
No it's personal. However that was the reason I added the 5 users. They are my 5 most necessary employees. My assistant, GC, real estate agent, etc. I didn't want a HP to open a business card when I had an idle card laying around... So I designated it toward them using it for fuel, meals, expenses, etc...
