Getting approved with a current Maxed card?

Has anyone ever gotten approved for a card while having a 96% card reporting?

I have paid a $2000 limit card down (Barclays) to a zero balance however it doesnt even report until the end of january and I hate waiting. I have 4 other cards all with zero balances reporting. Anyone ever gotten approved in a situation like this?

Equifax - 628, Experian -627, Transunion- 654 In the garden until 01/01/2019

I have. I got my current Discover Card with 98% maxed out U S Bank card (2000). Mind you i was also very very new to credit again too. Only had the US Bank CC 6 months. Discover hasn't raised that limit since and that was 16 months ago now. Crazy i know but shortly thereafter preapprovals followed by both Citi and Cap1 which were also approved. Citi among those 3 have been the only break-out card that has grown very nicely, the other 2, well, i think they smelled INTEREST!!!! at the time.

Exception and not the rule.

Wait until the new $0 balance reports. Your chances of approval will improve dramatically.

You will likely get a higher limit and better APR if you wait. One maxed out card won't result in automatic denials if your credit file is excellent in other ways (long history, perfect payments, great credit mix, etc), but your chance of approval and the quality of the approval will improve.

I have and got approved with chase.  But I have a relationship / bank with them.  Like others have stated, pay it down considerably before you app.

Amen.

As you can plainly see. Getting approved with a maxed out card only gets you cards (if any) that you'll end up having to close because highest APR, No Intro Offers, No CLI's, you get the picture Smiley Wink  I was very lucky to salvage only one card from that group that i can actually keep. The others are on the chop list unfortunately, my bad, but a lesson learned. Don't waste your time or HP's with that gamble.
