I *think* there's a suggested minimum 6 month waiting period that usually comes up on this forum regarding any second Amex application that you don't make immediately afterwards (i.e. you were qualified for way more than the Zync at the outset); however, the Zync isn't in the same league as the SPG from an underwriting perspective, not even close from what I've read on the forums here.
Look at your reports and your scores and do the analysis from that perspective first against the typical qualifications needed for the SPG, that's the more important thing; any suggested cooling off period is secondary.

You could always put in an app before 6 months just to know where you stand. It will only be a soft pull if you are denied.
Oh yeah, it's Amex Excellent point.

The only problem with this is that if you apply for SPG as an "existing AmEx customer" you are not eligable for the 25k signup bonus. You need to apply as a new customer in order to qualify for those in which a denial would result in a hard pull.
If I am a existing card member how can I apply as new customer to get those juicy 25K Points ?
I applied for SPG while I had the PRG and received the 25K bonus points. I completed the application on spg.com rather than through Amex because spg.com was offering the better promotion at the time.

Can you see where it shows in the disclaimers that current Amex customers are not eligible for the 25k?
I ask because I signed up and they said I wasn't eligible, yet the application Said additional 15k after 5k in spending in 6 months.
