If you have opted out would that be the reason you can't pre-app on sites?

Hello all- just musing a point and wondering about your all's opinion-

I opted out late this summer thru the 800 number. Cut down on all the junk pre app's coming in the mail- a few still trickle through though.

Question- I am NOT going to app but just was wondering- the other night I tried the soft pre app on BoA and it had me enter my social and then said there were "no pre app offers at all for me..." and I was wondering- cuz some people have posted approvals from BoA w/ a little bit lower scores than me-

if you opt out would that be the reason why you can't do a soft pre app on sites like BoA?

I don't think so because in that case you are requesting that they pre-approv you.  BOA is funny on that site.  Did it at least comeack with the secured card?  I have hard people with relatively high scores use that software and only get invited to app for a fully secured card.

If it helps any, I get the same thing.  Maybe too many cards opened in a short period of time?

I was opted-out, and I got the same response. Not even an offer for the fully secured. There's a list of things that they have, including the fully secured, but it wasn't offered.

now that my few brain cells have refreshed it is quite possible it could block you from offers.  Wen you opt out, your file is blocked to PRM inqs whic is what is needed to offer any pre-approved apps.....lol!!!!  Sorry

Anyone know how long it takes after you opt back in for it to implement? It took forever for the Cap 1 mailings to stop after our family opted out, and I'm wondering if they're just as pokey to opt you back in. I think I opted-in around 8-10 days ago.

Never thought that I'd miss mailers from Cap 1 and friends! Smiley Very Happy

What probably happened as that Cap1 just still had you on their list. they weren't getting any new info but since they got your name once they probably used that info fo 6 mos.  It should be with 7-10 busines days.  Now when he offers start coming in is another story.  Depends on when different issuers are scheduled to request info.

Well, I have to admit, the load on the mailbox dropped appreciably after the opt-out. No pre-approvals since sometime in late summer, when the opt-outs finally hit.

Who knows, maybe the junk mail will start up again soon! Oh, yay.

Back at the same site:

FWIW, I did not opt back in until I had my plan for score improvement worked out and written down, and I had also come awfully close to jumping in on some of our app frenzies here, but resisted. I needed to know that I wouldn't accept any old piece of garbage that came in the mail, but would stick with my plan. Impulse control is NOT my strong point! Smiley Tongue
