now that my few brain cells have refreshed it is quite possible it could block you from offers.  Wen you opt out, your file is blocked to PRM inqs whic is what is needed to offer any pre-approved apps.....lol!!!!  Sorry

What is a PRM inq? Thanks in advance. So, you do think that is why I wouldn't even be offered back the secured card?

Again, am NOT going to app. Just was musing/wondering.

To get a pre-app offer a creditor must run a PRM or promotional inquiry (soft).  Unfortunately this is the very thing you opt out of when you opt out.

Re: If you have opted out would that be the reason you can't pre-app on sites?

For anyone who hasn't seen what a soft inq looks like, here's a PRM plus an AR (account review) from my full EQ report (dang, I wish we could tab):

Company Information - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Date of Inquiry
AR-FIRST TENNESSEE BANK - - - - - - - - - - - -08/16/2007
PRM-AMERICAN EXPRESS/CENTURION BK -01/05/2007

Silly AmEx softed me last January and actually approved me for a Gold. I found the unopened envelope when I was shoveling out my office last month. This probably arrived about the day that I got my 30-day from Sears/ Citi, so oh well.

The fun thing on the AR soft is that it is on a closed account, and they do NOT have PP (permissible purpose) to inq a closed account, soft or hard, with an AR prefix. I have lates on that puppy too, and I'm working on that one, mmm-bwah-ha-ha. Smiley Wink (Don't even care about the $1000 penalty; I want the lates OFF.)

Re: If you have opted out would that be the reason you can't pre-app on sites?

I find that myfico doesn't show the softs.  At least it hasn't on the reports I have pulled here.  to get the softs you have to go straight to the source unless you have a 3in1 like TC....sorry
