@Anonymous wrote:It's the bookstore/newsstand cash back that really caught my eye, as I'm a distinct bibilophile (heh - I have a real storage issue with books just now in my little apartment!) and put this card on my list for consideration once I get out of the garden (bearing in mind the well-known issues with Synchrony/Comenity cards which impel one to take care when applying for more of those). I'm wondering if the 2% cash back will kick in when purchasing books from online sources such as Amazon and Overstock?
From my understanding and interpretation, anything with category rates it all depends on the MCC (Merchant Category Code) on how you earn the reward at what particular rate. So Amazon may not get you the book cashback rate, whereas Barnes and Noble probably would, etc..
Same difference if you went to Target and bought groceries, the merchant code is most likely Department Stores rather than a Grocery Store code.

Thanks for the clarification - I understand. There's a used-book store I visit just about every week (it's really a fantastic place, about the size of the local B&N and with a much cooler stock IMO). Hopefully the merchant category code would apply to that place. Something else to keep in mind while I'm gardening...

All my cards have 15k and us do they give u high credit limits ?
Not looking for small limits
When I opened mine, I was approved for $25k. Use it often (dining/entertainment) and pif.
I love my marvel card. I use it for the dining and entertaiment. My DW and I eat out about once or twice a week so the 3% back is great plus we are both big gamers and get back 3% at gamestop and the Xbox Live store! I have heard that Amazon counts for bookstores but I havent tried it myself to confirm.
I would say go for it if you're willing/able to PIF each month to avoid the high APR.
I applied for it last night and they declined it. Inquiry will fall off in few months and I probably should not added a new account any way which will bring down AAoA due to new account and score drop. Will try for one of the Chase cards in another 6 months from now.
Stay away from Marvel card from Synchrony R.I.P
You've Been Warned
I only wish that I could have multiple versions of the card. I use it mostly for dining.
I believe I started at $5,000 but they bumped me to $25,000 with a phone request.
I recently closed mine with a modest 5k limit (one cli of 1k, which is all I asked for). I simply out grew the card, didn't have any issues, including with the apr bc I pif.
