NFCU ???

Can some of you folks with NFCU CC  tell me what is the average score accepted, who was given the lowest credit line.( Most folks seem to have really good credit lines) on the forum. I am going to try them out as soon as my last baddie goes away. Also my biggest CC is Kays 7650 does anyone think that will help with a good line of credit , my next highest are 1500 lines. (ficos 728-tu 707-eq) 2% rev. debt ,aa 3yrs.

Re: NFCU ???

My two Navy cards have limits of $20,000 and $17,500. EQ FICO was around 740 at the time. Highest limit card at the time of first approval (the $20,000 card) was $19,000, with Citicorp.

Re: NFCU ???

Both are good. NFCU is a lot easier. Penfed does have that Cash Back card though.

Re: NFCU ???

NFCU checks Equifax 99% of the time, so what does that report show?  How old is the baddie?  What state do you live in?  I did some investigating on the CreditBoards site, credit pull database, & found this example of who got what recently with scores similar (& below) to yours:

What card            CR pulled     FICO            Limit                  Date apped           Other factors

NFCU Cash RewardsEquifax
690$17,500

2010-11-30BK 7 discharged 8/09. 12% utilization. Instant approval, received invitation to appy in mail.

NFCU cash-rewardsEquifax
651$27,000   2010-12-12Score is FAKO, 10+ year file, 2 aging baddies, no lates in nearly 3 years.

NFCU Platinum VisaEquifax
700$7,500

2010-12-05This is my SO's approval. Not 100% sure of his score, but his util is high (over 50%) and he has a 30-60-90 day late in 2007. No new accounts, 2 inqs. Got the 3-5 day message.

NFCU cashRewads VisaTransunion
680$12,000
2010-11-092 baddies 4 yrs old, one paid, one not pd, One mortgage for 6 months, 13 other good accounts, pulled TU at request because EX and EQ was frozen, 12x the highest limit. AAoA 2 yrs

As you can see, they are extremely forgiving of past mistakes.  They give nice limits with all kinds of baddies still showing.  So depending on the age & severity of the baddie, your limits and apr will reflect.  But I rarely, if ever as I recall, see a flat out denial.  Especially with FICO's in the 700's.

I apped just a couple weeks ago & got 25k with a 733 EQ FICO.  32% util & a couple inq's showing in the last year.  No baddies on my EQ reporting.

ETA: Location of above information.

Well, they are obviously BK friendly, and yours is hitting the 8 year mark!  A couple inq's isn't bad...worked for me.  I think you have a shot at a nice limit & a nice apr to go with it.  Especially with that util!

It's your call, but I cannot see a reason they'd say no.  Let me know if you decide to app.  And if you do...here's wishing you big limits & low apr's! Smiley Wink

Re: NFCU ???

Thanks again Mo. I have just been so gunshy about apps with the bk still showing with all the credit hopla. Just wanted the best score possible,I think it was Smallfry who said there was a nice score increase with a bk leaving but I know everyone is not the same in fico eyes. JUST HOPING BIG I've been working so hard since 07 here on this forum(which I thank very much) and trying to do everything right.

Just as a heads-up, and I am sure someone (everyone) will correct me if I'm wrong, but you stand the chance of actually losing points initially when your BK falls off, as you potentially move into a different scoring bucket for those without a past BK.

IMHO, apply away with NFCU and treat them like gold.  I applied with a BK7 in '04, many open tradelines but a few still showing IIB, 40% util and 5+ inq and EQ around 680ish, and they gave me a $14k instant (and an unrequested CLI last month).  Highest personal line by a longshot, but I think PSECU saw it as a challenge last week when I app'd with them and they gave me the full $20K PSL/Visa!

Good luck!
